  12. Had a quick look at Sorbus torminalis bark images on google and found one that looks very similar.

  14. Yes,apparently its a female smooth newt. I had never seen one before yesterday.
  15. I think it might have been a bit big for rowan, or holly as the rings that i split were a good 20 inch diameter
  16. Hi,found these logs whilst splitting,cant seem to identify what tree its from. Bark looks similar to Aspen but has a paper like outer layer that you can peel off like birch. The wood itself is very hard,heavy and dense like beech and in the outer section has a grain pattern similar to beech,the inner section/heartwood seems paler with no apparent graining. I also found some round ball like burrs/growths in the bark,which when peeled of were beautifully patterned 'balls' of wood. Apologies for my descriptions, any help to id the tree much appreciated... Been looking for one of these in the larger size to move some logs about, seems they get called various things.....hookaroon/logaroon/log spike/even found em called sappies on one site........makes it hard work trying to find the best price for one Anyone got any links/heads up where i can get one of the above (dunno what to call em ) at the best price obviously
  21. Sorry do you mean stacked round the edges next to the heras fencing creating outer 'walls' (hope that makes sense!) and then loose in the middle?

  23. I have an 038 Magnum,its 72cc compared to the 66cc for a super and 61cc for the bog standard 038. Its a cracking old saw with plenty of grunt,even more since i fitted a factory dual port exhaust
