  1. We have several 360's with various attachements, the Takeuchi is good and the Volvo and JCB have also been reliable little machines and I would certainly recommend them, our current Hanix has been a constant PITA,. On such a small machine I would stick with a claw as opposed to a rotator with grab. You can operate a post hole borer on them but to use a rotator with grab you will need to fit an extra spool or some form of bypass, you cannot just put a rotator and grab on and expect it to work, you can grab or you can rotate but you can't do both unless you make a modification which is simple enough to do but with a claw you don't need to do anything, just weld it on and away you go and it weights a lot less plus virutally nothing to go wrong unless you bend it. 1.5 tonners have limited lifting capacity whearas a 7.5 tonner can lift a nice big log and travel with it. Oh and another thing to bear in mind is Tacho, you will need one unless you feel comfortable with one of the exemptions. 2014-02-24 07.09.28.jpg 2014-02-26 11.35.22.jpg

  4. Your in box is full again Jon
  5. There quite a few farmers who have gone onto woodchip burners to run their farms but they will only take wood chip with no leaf, most of them buy in cordwood and hire a chipper once a year to come in and fill a barn.
  6. We sell our woodchip to Stobarts and apparently there is now a new power station and it will take up to four weeks to get the weight of the load then another four weeks to be paid, does anyone else have this problem with Stobart.
  7. We are looking for a young lad or girl to enter into the fold and begin training with a view to becoming a climber/arborist. All training will be provided and they will need to be local to Wolverhampton. For more information please call Bob 01902 892652.

  11. It will be interesting to see what the finer details are and if it is to happen in October then they are cutting it fine for such a large and major project, I have heard rumors but not seen anything in black and white as yet. It puts another burden on the private individual and those that will have to enforce it with more rules and regulations to comply with.
  12. It may not exist in statute as such but, if there had been an incident and you had to stand before a magistrate and explain why you did not trim your trees they would no doubt refer to the guidance issued or industry best practice which would then be relied on in court. The reason for my initial question is because we so often receive letters from local highways asking clients to maintain their trees and it differs so much throughout the country. 5.2m and 2.4m seem to be what most people work to?. Another thing to consider and going back to Goaty's comment, if you drive anything over a transit size truck then you will know this is, hedges and especially around the countryside and minor roads, we are for ever replacing door mirrors because the hedges encroach beyond the kerbline and limits the amount or road space quite often the nearside mirror catches the overgrown hedge and 'bang' another £10 gone.
  13. I think he needs a few more guards on the cab.
  14. Looks very much like a Ash tree to me and yes it will most likely damage the wall and probably all ready has, having said that the wall looks a bit suspect anyway.
  15. This is my understanding and what we have workded to for over 20 years but it seems not every local authority use the same guidance. The exception to the above are high load routes which tend to be 'A' roads and these are 6m.
  16. Could someone please confirm the statutory clearance over a public highway and public footpath and the legislation which covers it. I know what I think it is but but seems to differ depending on the local authority. Thankyou in anticipation.
  17. I have a unimog with crane and trailer.
  18. If thats hard work then you do not have the right equipment, just my opinion mind:001_tt2:.
  19. There must be an abundance of firewood in the Wolverhampton and surrounding area?.
  20. We have approx 50 tonnes of wood available, most of it is already cut into rings or managable pieces but there are also butts. The majority is softwood but there is also hardwood. The wood towards the back is seasoned, the wood at the front is fresh. I am looking for a bid on the lot. Deliver or collect. Bob 01902 892652 20140806_154914.jpg
  21. That was quick, thankyou.
  22. Would anyone have a link to the Blue Book or a copy of this please.
  23. We have a job in Southampton to fell 2no Ash and 2no Limes, all mature trees so a fair bit of wood. It is available free of charge if you are able to collect and also find a home for the woodchip. Bob 01902 892652
  24. Its hard to find the right words but please stay strong for those that depend on you and accept my deepest condolences. Four weeks ago I was sitting our kitchen with my wife chatting and having a cup of tea when she developed a headache from hell, it was like someone hit her over the head with a brick, she suffered an aneurysm on the brain which burst and bled, fortunately she got expert help very quickly and they operated the following day. The doctor told us it could go either way and at that point the ground just opened up and I felt like I was in another world, my wife who I have know for 42 years was in a life threatening situation and all I could do was hold her hand and try to comfort her. Thankfully she appears to have made a full recovery and is getting stronger everyday. My thoughts are with you.
  25. I suffered the same 6 years ago and fortunately I made a full recovery and now as fit as ever. I often think of packing it all in but for very different reasons. Good luck with your venture and I hope it works for you.
