  3. I`ve seen people using chains in shocking states, no oil, no edge to speak of. They just loosen it a bit and carry on. There is no doubt that garden chainsaw users need more educating and doing awareness type talks like David mensioned is a good thing. There is however a fine line between professional advise about saws and necessity of PPE, and doing training. Thats a minefield.
  4. Blunt saw is more dangerous than a sharp one.

  6. Been keeping an eye on an Oak in the local park. Swollen butt and some crown dieback. The other day this lttle fellow appeared!
  7. I think 8 months is ok for trousers, you`d hope they would last longer. This is the reason i`ve stopped buy top end price ppe. Not because its poor quality but its a real pain when your super expensive ppe falls to pieces. I had that happen with some boots recently. I replaced my boots with a cheaper pair. Simple.

    ...but seriously, Stuff that grows quick needs annual maintenance Laurel, conifer etc, stuff that grows slow needs less maintenance.
