    If you can bypass the tank filter just put the plastic inline filters in the fuel hose (away from any heat source!...) - they are pence so just chuck them and replace when blocked would be my advice.

    They are the same bales, loaded cross trailer on the first and lengthways on the second. Stupid dangerous fools, they need prosecuting really as the cost of damage will be negligible (if it even falls to them to pay).

    No mate, I work for me but have run a lot of chippers from various manufacturers over the years. Greenmech machines seem to work very well in our application and I subsequently rate them (and the company behind them) very highly indeed. I bought a tidy second hand Quadchip at the end of last year as it was a bit of a bargain - (we generally run 1928 sized machines as we aren’t limited by towing restrictions and they are great for getting rid of brash quickly) and had no previous experience of the QC - I have to say that I’m really impressed with it! I was going to sell it on but it will probably stay here now as the turntable is really really useful on certain jobs. In your shoes I’d buy the cheap QC - it is a no brainer from where I’m sat (but some people do seem to struggle to see past the colour orange)...

    Amazing machine - what a beast! I’m not sure that Ben is your target customer though, you should be selling into the bigger fish who will be crying out for his product and your machine surely? Or buying/clearing for free Ben’s feedstock and selling it on yourself?

    If it is like other Greenmechs there is a splined boss on the roller that the output shaft of the motor locates in. These bosses can eventually wear - you either get a new roller or you can get the boss from Greenmech which a decent fabrication shop will be able to weld into your old roller. Jase or Pete will be along to confirm or deny what I’m saying though!

    Speak to Rototilt as well - they did me a great deal on my 6 tonner. It worked out cheaper for me to source QH, buckets and tilt rotator all separately when I set mine up a couple of years ago.

    Go 4-hose, get a machine factory fitted with proportional rocker switches on the joysticks. Get S-type hitch/buckets while you’re at it and you can get a tilty any time in the future easy peasy!

    I remember seeing a real fast ‘traditional style’ hydraulic splitter on the Ryetec stand at the APF last time - I know nothing more about it than that though I’m afraid!

    For what they are those bearings are extremely expensive from Iveco (they are in this country anyway!). It’s cheaper to get the prop shaft entirely overhauled by a specialist (Firow are a firm local to us who manufacture propshafts) than buy the bits! Make sure you mark the flanges at both ends to ensure it bolts back on in the exact same alignment - the truck will shake like a shitting dog if not...

    Can’t believe there are no Clearviews in the list - best stoves out there IMO. We’ve also got a Jotul which is also very good.

    The insurance co have provided cover for 3rd parties, they are under obligation to pay out to those affected 3rd parties. The insurance company may subsequently seek damages from the insured if they see fit.

    I would think that his insurance will have to pay out to the affected 3rd parties. Renewal time will be painful though...

    Ground Control insisted on the lads having leaf blower tickets on the WPD contract (I believe at the client’s request). These are lads that they are employing (and who are qualified, experienced and authorised) to operate chainsaws from a rope and harness whilst tied into an anchor point of unknown strength next to live electrical power lines... You have to question the thought process of those making the rules sometimes! Unfortunately that type of brainless tick-box exercise undoubtedly dreamt up by someone sat behind a desk thinking up ways of reducing accidents can then possibly lead to other much more important health and safety messages not being taken as seriously as they should IMO.

    LGP Eddie (and Gray Git also I think) converted forestry winches to hydraulic drive for running off spools - might be worth considering to then mount on the front of your loader?

    Thanks for the reply. What is it a change of use to do you know? If it were an agricultural crop (spuds for example) would it still be change of use?

    Hi - I know it’s been kind of covered in the past but does anyone know definitively the rules regarding the storage on agricultural land of unprocessed timber generated through forestry operations? The timber is stored for further forwarding/delivery to end user, no processing takes place. The agricultural land does not adjoin the forestry land from where the timber originates, it is brought in for resale to end users. This is in England. Should there be change of use, and if so what to?! Cheers!

    Was that Volvo for sale on here up in Scotland? I wish I’d bought that at the time, give me a shout if you ever move it on...

    Why does it seem to happen with such relative frequency on that contract when compared to elsewhere? Time pressure? Inexperienced operatives? Too experienced/complacent operatives? Is there a drug/alcohol culture amongst the workforce? Long hours with a lot of travelling leading to tiredness? Too many hoops to jump through so corners are cut when nobody is looking? Climbers having to use different work methods/systems that they aren't necessarily familiar with leading to mistakes being made? Poor/inadequate PPE stipulations leading to lack of proper control of work tools/karabiner function/fatigue etc? Hazard reporting not being acted upon? It isn't that large a contract in reality, and yet there appears to have been continuous problems with people falling out of trees/getting injured in various ways. There seems to be something very wrong somewhere - it would be interesting to know exactly what and why.
