  1. I bought a Brian James 3.5 tonne ‘Diggerplant’ trailer to add to a fleet of 2.7 tonne IW GH94 plant trailers (only because I’d fallen out with Ifor Williams over a warranty issue and thought I’d spend the extra money on a ‘premium’ rival instead). It was the single worst trailer I’ve ever bought - had to be welded up multiple times after snapping across the tub and only ever carried a 1.8 tonne tracked chipper. From new the brake cables were suspended below with long, hanging cable ties (even though there were cutouts in the chassis to route them through). The ramp supports never touched the ground and couldn’t be adjusted (hence the broken tub I guess?). It went in to the dealers for its first ‘free’ service at 500/1000 miles (I don’t remember which, but thought it a nice touch at the time - it was less than a month old when I took it in) and they presented me with a £500 bill upon collection for a brake light lense and new jockey wheel (the ridiculous original jockey wheel folded up in a lovely fashion but shat itself in the first week when used with a loaded trailer - I asked for it to be replaced with something ‘normal’ but didn’t anticipate having to remortgage my house for the pleasure). Total crap, I wouldn’t entertain anything made by those shysters. Have since bought 5 more Ifors (3 GH plant trailers) as well as a Bateson tiltbed and they are all head and shoulders above the BJ.
  2. Which trailers are better (actual models like-for-like)? I have my own thoughts and experiences, very interested to hear others.
  3. Equally you could have pre-qualified him during the initial phone call stating the minimum price the job would need to be to be worth your time at that distance. (But this is why they are called cuntstomers to be fair…)
  4. I know I can’t afford it, just thought I’d ask! 😂😂
  5. How much is that chipper Pete?
  6. A mate used to drink in the Fawcett Inn in Southsea when at college - never gave the name any consideration. This has reminded me of his later ‘KY Jelly’ anecdotes once the penny dropped…
  7. Man alive there are some bellends on this forum!!!
  8. I love watching the birds of prey when mulching scrub - they appear from everywhere!
  9. Well done Pete - good luck with the new venture! Good bits of kit the Ufkes - I’ve always been impressed when we’ve used them.
  10. That’s an AI answer if ever there was one! 😂
  11. If it’s a second hand truck there is no way of proving who manufactured/installed the towing equipment or whether it is CE marked etc etc. If it passes a mot then the owner can’t in any way be liable surely?
  12. They’ve updated the article since this morning as there was no mention of the council overturning it originally - I guess they’ve been forced to today due to the bad publicity!
  13. I wouldn’t bother with them if you are hoping to save money!!!
  14. That’s a lot of machine for the money - absolute bargain, well done!
  15. He’s in France though - no idea what the market is doing there.
  16. Yeah, that’s a good rule of thumb on those, particularly if dry. (I’d imagine it should work out a bit of a better yield in reality). Will they also give you a price for timber and a price for brash? Clean timber chip commands decent money over here.
  17. How much will your biomass buyers give you for it if you present it roadside for them to chuck straight through their Albach? Use that to price from - anything over and above per tonne you can get for the timber then becomes a bonus.
  18. A demonstration area where you can actually operate various machinery (be that chippers, cranes, excavators or even new chainsaws). Might need a breathalyser at the entrance though….
  19. Obama got one simply for being black - if the current peace deal holds then I’d suggest Trump very much deserves the award next year.
  20. I’m mostly talking about if dealing with this bloke!
  21. Welsh businessman left customers furious after they paid thousands, then one got on a plane to confront him | Wales Online WWW.WALESONLINE.CO.UK Companies run by Sean Reilly have left a trail of angry customers Wasn’t sure where to put this - it’s a news article so here will do I guess! A mate was nearly stung by this guy - gave him a £5k deposit for a tiltrotator that never materialised. It took nearly 12 months to get the money back (only got it back after things got a bit heavy…) Tread carefully - only part with money once what you are buying is loaded onto your trailer!
  22. I know nothing about bullets and rifles etc, but I do have a mate who is a police shooting range commander. He told me (on a pub crawl, so I will almost definitely have the wrong end of the stick…) that the armed police essentially use ‘dum dum’ rounds (banned by the Geneva convention for armies shooting at each other due to the damage they inflict upon their target) as they are only ever going to shoot at someone when they need guaranteed immediate stopping power - the likelihood of the survival of the target is an irrelevance at the point the decision to shoot is taken. They don’t practice with these rounds in the indoor range as they fragment and there is a higher likelihood of ricochet.
  23. Such a great old field-edge apple tree, thriving whilst rather compromised!
  24. Sounds a bit threatening Mick!…. (I would think twice about visiting the UK ‘Fatherland’ under your own identity after publishing such wild online calls-to-arms!)
  25. What’s the chain speed Steve? Is there a chain shot/safety zone issue or can it be used within sensible distances of 3rd parties?
