  1. I prefer 16 strand generally but I've done lots of OP 8mm. Some of them fly in and I've launched a few across the room! Try Armor prus Rich, both diameters are lovely to do.
  2. I'm afraid it is accurate. You have described the ideal which is how it should happen. One of my closest mates is an NPTC trainer and some of the things I have heard are a long way from ideal. I'm not going to name examples as what I have been told in conversation is just that but he certainly has no reason to lie. Maybe if these courses are so lucrative, we should all be training and raking it in. Low overheads, all candidates showing up prepared and suitable and 3k a week. Why not:001_smile:
  3. Looks good to me mate! As long as you follow the instructions then the strength will be there!
  4. From where I'm sitting, trainers want paying and by Christ they earn it most of the time. You then have admin staff, cost of replacing equipment if required, overheads of work shop and cost of replacement tools, fuel, oils. Payment for someone to deal with timber and debris after course. The list could go on and on. Only 4 candidates on each course if I remember correctly so at rough guess each is paying about 130 ish per day. Not too hard to see where the cash goes.
  5. If you have been working on saws for 11 years why are you doing the training:confused1: Download the spec from NPTC and just pay for the assessment
  6. I sold mine when I go the Zk2. Got 40 quid for it. Why not keep it and use it for a base rescue system?
  7. Bump! Anyone got anything new to add?
  8. Natanoko but really tempted to get a Tsurugi
  9. But in a pick up bed surely it would be nearer the body?
  10. Is that even real? Looks like a photoshop job. The filler cap is in the wrong place for a start!
  11. Could you not buy the cord and have it sent to a splicer? If you paid someone to splice it then send it it would be cheaper than the postage
  12. Tell me that last one goes around the round about.....
  13. Happy with that. I'll have something to watch next summer now!

That's really sickening mate. To nick the gear is one thing but to smash up the remaining gear is lower than I am able to describe. Really feel for you mate and hope that you get some good news
  15. There are some of the first examples of Metasequoias in the UK in Cambridge Botanical Gardens if anyone is interested.
  16. Nothing cryptic mate. Just a few lads I'm friends with on Facebook have said that they are purposely staying off here due to the number of helmets that are on here and being vocal over others with no real reason other than to make themselves heard. Shame as they are top lads who know a hell of a lot and are not posting for whatever reason.
  17. Sadly this is true for me. I know some excellent climbers who have become disillusioned with the direction some are willing to push towards
  18. Cheers lads. Shot myself in the foot as I need to outdo it every year now!

Signing up for a calender and being paid for it is different to posting a picture of yourself wearing a helmet

Nope. I read that thread. Just think a lot of the posters on here would do well to think about this lady's other half, who stands a very good chance of knowing someone on this forum, and think about what he would think. If it was me and someone said something similar about my wife in a pub for example, they would be working out how to pick glass out of themselves with broken bones.

Sorry Rich, Don't agree on this one. I hate the term banter, its an excuse to act like a fool or belittle people. If my wife logged on here and took the time to set up an account and people were making comments about sending photos of herself then I would be less than impressed.

Cheers Ben, just about to post the same. A woman has put up a photo of her in a helmet and in less than 3 pages people are on about underwear. Not cool in my book or appropriate, sorry
