  1. Digging them up would be the quickest in conjunction with ground works but some recycling centers class roots as contaminated waste, a couple years ago one was charging 5000kr a ton (regular green waste 300kr ton) for commercial. grindings the digger will loose in the soil when they get round to ground works, just the odd fat root that’ll maybe need to be gotten rid of. (If not too many then may be worth the client taking a few trailer loads to the tip and tip for free as a private person plus grinding you’ll earn money
  2. I’ll echo Slack ma girdles comments, I’ve a miniforwarder, it comes into its own when needing to deal with a mess, being able to back in, sorting into piles then forwarding out, it’s nimbleness and off road ability runs circles around trailers. Plus user comfort. But long easy drives it’s much slower in transport speed. There at other makes though that will do 25kmh I’ve often thought about a set up like Matty F - an alpine tractor that could do other duties and a trailer, I’d really like to try a reverse drive alpine with a trailer, but for me, I’m worried I’d miss the aforementioned pluses of the forwarder too much. No difference/saving in price either
  3. Have a look at @IronMike ‘s posts for inspiration, or even threads
  4. Has alistar and lgp Eddie teamed up now?!
  5. Think about condensation. We’ve an old style house, the hallway and porch has always been unheated and single glazed in the porch. traditionally we’d have had a set of loose frames that get put in place in the autumn and removed in spring as a very old cheap type of double glazing. Without these condensation builds up extremely quickly in colder weather when the warm inside air hits the cold glass. even in the rest of the house we’ve wooden windows, double framed so a form of DG, hundred years old, those that need tlc and allow inside warm air escape through and hit the glass that’s outside get condensation
  6. I know its Scotland, but i really don't think its gonna fit on that trailer Stevie!
  7. With a rope that high that truck would have had to be rocket propelled to give enough speed to do anything meaningful. Looks like that stem had the shape of a fidget spinner, no width to the hinge. lucky no one was hurt that Irish vid smashing the Landy though 🤦‍♂️
  8. Finish your course, a year’s experience isn’t interesting

    Finland

Probably better to ask the Finns! Check out the Finnish chapter on the ISA webpage, there’s a link to the Facebook Finnish tree care association there
  10. Although I lack sympathy for your original post Eggs - you must have known you’re not living 100% legit so you can’t really moan about getting moved on, just part of van life. I do hope you get sorted though, and fair play for not being main stream 🤟 takes balls to be different. I was close to getting a boat on the river cam years ago, still regret not doing it tbh
  11. You say you’re new, my advice would be to decline ALL advertising from those who ring you. think about how you search for a tradesman, how your parents do, your friends, then YOU contact that advertising outlet. Telesales are sneaky slimey parasites that are very good at being your best friend on the phone
  12. Over here, being able to run on ethanol gives the car eco tax status, your ranger would be about £2500 a year to tax, the dodge, less than £300
  13. Yeah i do actually, take the heating for example, its much clearer what you're doing, rather than having 3 identical dials. I guess its a bit like any new vehicle you jump in, takes a couple of minutes to "discover" everything but then its 2nd nature
  14. Currently got a loan vehicle, everything is touch, very pedagogical, very simple, the dash and interior is extremely simple and plain tbh, not much to look at inside (less distractions, more focus in the road I guess) A stark contrast to my Land Cruiser which looks like a fighter jet cockpit with all the buttons, dials, offroad mode options constantly lit up, constantly looking at you!
  15. You're gonna need to give alot more info to get any kind of decent answer. Is it a 4x4 pickup? transit? etc Will you be converting yourself or sending it off to someone to do everything? Just tipper with sides, or roof, barn doors, ladder rack, toolbox?
  16. I’d have loved a 79, should have had bigger balls and got this instead of the new hilux I had. They’ve had a 20% price hike in 2 years! 4.0 230bhp v6 petrol
  17. What are you earning now and what would be the bare minimum you’d need to take home, without fail, each month?
  18. 😆 rules and limits have to be set somewhere 🤷‍♂️ downplating that truck meant the company could run cheaper, use a driver with lower training, undercutting the competition, doubt it was running any sort of tacho, or abiding to drivers hours etc. why not just run legit? whys the drink drive limit set where it is? some trucks are made differently actually, wether it be for total weight, train weight or towing capacity - can be differences in brakes, axles, diffs, springs, chassis construction etc, even if the body looks the same Trees aren’t light, just get an appropriate vehicle, rather than a gardeners vehicle
  19. True, but manufactures make them because people buy them, they really don’t care about what the buyer does with it. Imagine how many sales would be turned down if they actually cared! that post of the trees in the truck said it was downplatedfrom 5t - a conscious decision was made to make it near useless A single cab tranny tipper with original sides is a very useable vehicle to a builder, or log delivery etc. It’s when customers get the bright idea that they want to ferry around 6 guys their dog, 6m3 chip, kit locked away, full chapter8, high sides etc that the conscious decision to buy the wrong vehicle has been made. perhaps we should blame chipper manufacturers? Most 3,5 toners would be just about legal with branches stacked high, but those pesky chippers make everything so much smaller that so much more can be gotten on 😂 I genuinely think it’s great that you’re buying a proper truck 👍 having a clean conscience is worth a lot
  20. Let’s be honest though, it’s not the rules or the truck makers who’s stupid though is it? the rules and ratings have always been there, they haven’t snuck up on anyone during the night Pretty sure that it’s us arbs who quadruple the height of the manufacturers original bed sides then moan that it’s over weight when filled 😂 I could over load my 20tonner very easily, most lorry drivers I’ve worked with (bio mass, log trucks and grab wagons) check their weight whilst loading then will just say no more when max weight is reached. Personal responsibility.
  21. Use aspen in the new saw No need to worry about draining the tank or fuel in combi cans going stale. continue to use your tried and tested pump mix in the 066 though, just to air on the side of caution and keep using it at least semi regularly to keep everything supple
  22. The 12” has a slightly (4cm) bigger circumference can’t see it being a problem though
  23. Thing in the medical profession is, they may be in what sounds like an ok wage for their contractual 40 hour week, but they never actually do a 40 hour week, morally obliged to stay on working late for no extra pay…..not just a little late extra, double hours ain’t unusual, then try to unwind after what can be horrendous days, it’s amazing anyone would want to do that work!
  24. Are you holding the saw in the same orientation when trying the top side/underside of the bar?
  25. fair enough, thought you might be thinking of different low impact approaches and respective productivity. comparing against ATV with driven forwarder trailer, which would have simmilar maneuverability as an alpine I’d imagine, the logbullet is much more productive, the worse the presentation of material the more productive the logbullet is over a trailer. the big draw back with ATV (or alpine I’d imagine) with trailer is not being able to easily and quickly back in (especially tighter areas) clearing a path and stacking as you go then forwarding/collecting on your way out. There’s a lot of time consuming fannying about IME which dedicated forwarders reduce. the biggest drawback with the logbullet is its speed on flat ground, that’s where on longer extraction routes with easily collected product the alpine could make up time I have thought about swapping the logbullet for an alpine and trailer but then realized it’d be taking a big step backwards
