  1. I seem to have heard this story before from a pellet manufacturer in Liverpool who assured everybody that the only pallets they used were untreated. Unfortunately the environment agency did not believe them and tested the pellets only to find traces of dioxin which proved the pallets were treated.
  2. Theres a Fendt 311 on farmers weekly this week for £8650 which seems cheap to me.
  3. I presume you have looked at the FC e timber tender for wales due in on the 26th Jan and the one for england due in on 10th Feb. If tender units are to large how about an agreed arbtalk members group offer??.
  4. Hardly call any of your equipment budget tractor material.
  5. You could take the kindling machine and process in Portsmouth and then distribute finished product nationwide.
  6. I use IBC containers if you get the right sort you dont even need galvanised mesh. I pay £20 + vat not extortionate ebay prices. Normally stack 2 high full and 4 high empty.
  7. The only way I could justify a processor for tree surgeon arb timber is by hiring out the machine to other tree surgeons as I find only 50% of surgeon timber is directly suitable for the processor with further ringing required to get it into the machine. That is why I hire out my Palax combi.
  8. gensetsteve Yes fuelwood do the Kindlet Pro which would be ideal but I cannot justify a new machine and I have not found any used machines.
  9. I looked at a kindlet machine but for my 9 inch joiners off cuts it could not handle it. At the moment I am abusing my palax processor to do kindling but this is not ideal unless I get a multiblade manufactured. I was wondering what other alternatives are available. Even thought of adapting a flywheel press but that might be dangerous. Any other bright ideas
  10. My hydraulic briquette press will produce paper briquettes from shredded paper but it does use 80 bar of hydraulic pressure which is a bit more than the press you are looking at. The problem with paper alone is the very high ash content when compared to burning wood.
  11. I would go down a similar route but would use a felling head and stroke delimber instead of the harvester. Much cheaper than a harvester if you already have a tractor and forwarding trailer. I would also chip the brash for biofuel instead of burning. 12. If ebay price is 99p per kilo thats £990 per tonne. Nobody would surely buy at that price or am I missing something.
  13. pugh-auction.com Could be this one Pughs admit the plan in the brochure is incorrect
  14. Advertising costs money whereas Arbtalk is free. Good job I am not running Arbtalk as I would charge for any unsolicited advertising.
  15. if you need 4 wheel drive then you really only have compact kubota or JD to choose from. I bought a new Jinma 204 for our horticulture enterprise back in 1998 and it finally bent a pesh rod after over 6000 hours of hard work rotovating, topping, hay making, saw bench, etc. Now bought old MF 550 to run saw bench but being 2 wheel drive have already got it stuck fast whereas Jinma would have kept going. I would have replaced the Jinma with Kubota or JD but both to expensive s/hand. Looked at new Jinma but quality seems to have disappeared to make them cheap.
  16. Small Kubota and Ford engines are powered by these gasifiers http://www.gekgasifier.com/
  17. I would like one of those woodgas fergies if they ever came up for sale. Would be ideal for running a sawbench using the sawdust waste to power the tractor.
  18. Have a word of your plans with a local land agent. They will give you the low down of the local council attitude towards your proposed development and could even approach the council on your behalf in a what if scenario.
  19. Are you buying more than 5 hectares, if so you are deemed a "farm" rather than a "small holding and the planning rules are easier
  20. I bought my browns sawbench at a farm sale but make sure it is properly guarded. Many second hand benches are accidents waiting to happen and should really be left in the scrap yard.
  21. Does your contact have any experience of converting Merc diesel engines to woodgas. At present I am looking at a MB Trac conversion using a stak 100k gasifier. My problem arises with wanting to use 100% woodgas instead of the normal 80% for diesel engines.
  22. Carl I am trying to find this 20k of grants available from the FC. Nobody I have spoken to at FC can shed any light on these grants.
  23. Dont forget to plant sloes for your sloe gin.
  24. Pubs will pay a premium for apple wood for use on open fires because of the scented smell. To good to burn on a stove.
  25. Steve Login seems to be fixed but now it is so sloooowww. This might be partly due to my orange mobile dongle but I dont seem to have the same problem on other forums I visit which might suggest an overload of banner data/ adverts ?? just a thought
