  1. Needs to go and have a word with his union as that was the case on the 2007 settlement. New government new rules sorry but he is in for a nasty shock hence the reason why the unions are up in arms. It might even be worth him taking early retirement before the new rules come in but he might have to be quick as every teacher over the age of 55 might suddenly have the same idea and then you wont need a strike because there will be so few experienced teachers left the system will collapse.
  2. Skyhuck Unfortunately it is retrospective for example a teacher having worked 37 years would have expected to get 37/80 of final salary currently £37795 for the "average" teacher.working out to an annual pension of £17840 plus a lump sum of £52540. Under the new scheme average working life salary would be used currently £36031 and the new fraction of 37/100 less 35.6% penalty for retiring at age 60 giving an annual pension of £8585 and no lump sum.
  3. Billy 68 I would go further than that and say any civil servant including MP's and PM would have an earnings cap of twice the national average. This would then give an incentive for the average salary to be increased.
  4. Nice in theory but not what the government is proposing hence why the teachers are up in arms. Originally the scheme divided the pension pot by 80ths under the government proposal the pot is divided into 100ths.
  5. My wife is a specialist remedial teacher who has already contributed to her pension for over 30 years and was due to retire in 5 years time at age 60. She now has 10 more years to work and contribute to her pension. Even though she is a specialist teacher her salary is less than the "average" teachers salary touted by the government. So you can understand why teachers are up in arms here are the figures released by the government for this mythical "average" teacher (ann salary £37795) if retired in 2007. Ann pension £17840 Lump sum £52540 Under the governments proposal Ann pension £8585 Lump sum £0 Under the governments proposals my wife would not even get back her contributions paid into the pension scheme.
  6. Your really on the wrong forum to get your question answered. It has been covered many times on the Navitron forum with many practical solutions. There a very helpful bunch but if you ask them make sure you do a search of the threads first because they do get annoyed being repeatedly asked the same question because the person cannot be bothered to use the search facility. Good starting point would be to type dunsley neutraliser into the search engine as it always crops up as a suggested solution.
  7. Be very careful doing your sums. We have a similar arrangement with a local council and find that the amount which we can extract on a daily basis barely covers the daily cost of labour. If we did not already have the harvesting equipment then we could not afford to purchase the equipment. Also be aware of harvesting periods as were not allowed to harvest during the nesting season.
  8. I would rather guarantee my Moisture Content being less than 20% confirmed with a moisture meter rather some bit of paper saying in theory you have a quality product.
  9. If you need to get rid of the offcuts give me a PM and we can do a better deal than Plevins.
  10. Why would you pay Plevins to collect when I collect FOC and pay upto £5 tonne for kiln dried offcuts. Only way we make offcuts pay is by not only producing kindling but also wood pellets and briquettes from the kindling offcuts although the initial capital investment is very high.
  11. Had the desired effect on the day of a "cheque in the post". Now I know Royal Mail can be slow but this is ridiculous.
  12. Bet it is very difficult on wide narrow rings ie 6 inch by 3 foot. I am still looking at the splitfire splitter which works on a similar 2 way principle but still not bought one due to the cost of importing from Canada.
  13. Steve Now that you have set up the firewood directory do you think that a similar system could be used for a plant hire directory.(could have a large button in the large equipment section similar to the log button) Looking at recent threads people have been looking for log processors, log transport, mulchers, stump grinders, biomass chippers etc. I know it will not have the volume as the firewood directory but I think it could be a real help for the professionals on here who are after a specific piece of machinery to do a one off job. Anybody else have an opinion
  14. Rob Woodchip is to valuable to be spreading on the land. If you need a free tip site we are just outside Bolton or if you prefer we could leave IBC containers for you to fill and we will collect.
  15. organicdave Check what spec your Binder requires most chip boiler manufacturers specify G30 spec so your chipper in theory should be producing G50 spec which should be larger than required. If you have that many fines what speed are you running your heizohack at. I was advised 850rpm but I then looked in the manual and it advised maximum 750rpm.
  16. We can even achieve kiln dried results in a "Solar" kiln polytunnel with MC down as low as 12%. Totally pointless though if you deliver to a customer who leaves the logs out in the rain as the logs will act as blotting paper and soak up any available moisture. Even in a dry shed the moisture could reabsorb upto 20% MC.
  17. b101uk Thats a relief. I have never so far had a problem, With the air suspension the trailer really rides like a dream and stops really well. Wondered whether I could get away with towing another similar trailer like they do on the continent but the roads around me are a bit narrow.
  18. b101uk I have a MB Trac 1000 which I use with a crane freuhaf skeleton container drawbar trailer which I have attached log carrier poles. (Air brakes and air suspension with own air tanks) Are you saying that the trailer will have a detrimental effect on the MB Trac as it will be braking more effectively than the MB Trac.
  19. I always thought the MB Trac was the first tractor which complied with LGV having sprung suspension and air brakes.
  20. Just got back from the show. What happened to all the agricultural machinery. Have the major suppliers boycotted the show. There was more machinery on display in the bygone area then the rest of the showground. Very disappointed although the cider was good.
  21. I also have a heizohack chipper . What size screen are you running. I require a lot of fines for briquette manufacture so run a G30 screen and turn the feed in speed as slow as possible. If you want big chip than I would suggest a G50 screen and fast in feed but the resultant chip may well have less fines but will have a bigger tendency to bridge. I would suggest if your happy with the performance of your stove than why reinvent the wheel.
  22. If you can spare the time pruning one third a year over 3 years should guarantee there survival. If varieties are unique you could air propagate using a plastic bag and moss.
  23. Get yourself a combined heat and power plant and export the electric into the grid.
  24. I think there being very optimistic at 110hp. A standard MB Trac 800 is approx 75hp with a standard turbo it becomes a MB Trac 900 at approx 85hp. To get 110hp you would need to start with a 6 cyl MB Trac and fit a turbo. Was this not advertised 6-9 months ago I seem to remember a similar thread.
  25. Just make sure you get paid for the work done. Hired my processor out for 10 days to a member on here and still not paid after 4 months. I know times are hard for some of you arb guys but this is taking the michael.
