  1. On that small a scale you could get away with a solar dryer using mesh conveyors. For each M3 of woodchip you would require 100 m2 of drying mesh which sounds a lot but if stacked 10 layers high would only take up 10 mtrs by 1 mtr. The aim is to get the woodchip below 20% MC at which point it can be stored long term without going moldy. If you need to speed up the drying even more than an industrial dehumidifier can be used but then it gets costly on electric. If you want to know more I can put you in touch with a man who used such a system for drying green mulched herbs.
  2. I know it was cold here this morning but I thought diesel was supposed to go down to below -20 before you get waxing problems. My MB Trac not happy although still managed the delivery, so are all the diesel brands the same or are some better than others.
  3. As others have suggested yes we do this all the time and charge a premium for dry woodchip at below 20% MC. As such we do keep our cards quite close to our chest as the big power station chip suppliers would love to move into this premium market. That said I dont mind pointing people in the right direction but for that you will need to supply more details of your operation in particular source of material. ie forest brash or cordwood. Also expected tonnage per week and the sort of budget your expecting to spend to achieve it.
  4. I tell my customers exactly the same as its not worth the hassle selling mixed when it burns so well on our Dunsley.
  5. Kesla also do a shear head which we use on our kesla crane and replaces the grapple
  6. At that depth your asking for spontaneous combustion unless you have built in some grain air ducts and a fan
  7. Looks great but if it was mine I would be attaching chicken wire to the decking. First hard frost and the decking will be like a skating ring especially on the steps.
  8. Is that imported ash and now subject to an import ban
  9. Looking for offers around £15 +vat
  10. Anybody need some IBC container frames. Have 100 available in Blackburn if anybody is interested.
  11. 25 ltr square oil drum with top and bottom cut off with jigsaw. Also works well for bagging large bags of kindling.
  12. Is it worth teaching an old dog new tricks. Just got a leaflet through from Myerscough advertising CS30/31 5 day course plus assessment for £368. At the end of it can safe fell trees upto 30mm diameter. For that size I would not even bother getting the chainsaw out.
  13. Get down to your local NFU for advice or the CLA if your a member
  14. You could have a close coupled 3 pt link crane like my Kesla attached to my heizohack with the added advantage of still being able to use the crane as a stand alone on the forwarding trailer. More important is handling of a heavy rear mounted chipper in a woodland environment which is why I went for a forward control MB Trac with co-ordinated steering and crab steering.
  15. For that sort of quantity you may have to go to Bodens as they have most of the waste timber in the area.
  16. I use what I believe your calling chipwood for kindling and then the offcuts for briquettes, wood pellets, and woodchip. How many tonnes per week are you looking for as I do have a surplus which I am stock piling at the moment.
  17. I can do G30 spec woodchip what moisture content are you looking for.
  18. If you PM me your email address I can send you a picture of my machine with the safety bar I am sure it would not take a lot to fit but these machines are animals once they start pulling in timber so you do need something to stop the infeed in an emergency.
  19. My chipper has both the safety wire and safety bar. I was told to convert to crane feed they take off the safety bar and weld a bar on the in feed to protect the wire. Hence my comment that I thought the machine had been adapted for crane feed.
  20. Josey Do you intend feeding by hand on a regular basis as it looks to me like the machine has been modified for crane feeding. Comparing to my 6-300 you dont appear to have the safety bar under the chute to stop anyone from falling in the machine. You will certainly be noticed with that colour scheme at least its prettier than mine being yellow with shades of rust.
  21. Due to planning restrictions all my roadways have to be temporary therefore I use reinforced concrete panels 4 mtr x 1 mtr tongue and grove with 2 lifting points. Size was determined by maximum lifting ability of my 3 tonne excavator. Not cheap though at £170 per panel but they do occasionally come up at farm sales.
  22. My MB Trac and forwarding trailer are available at the moment. PM me if I can help. Have had issues posting otherwise I would have responded earlier but hopefully Steve has now sorted
  23. Steve Posting without any problems now on Safari. Thanks for your help
  24. As far as I am aware still classed as forestry although I only use white diesel as so many people have been pulled and I am not prepared to waste my time arguing. Insurance needed clarification but I have it in writing that Biomass haulage is covered on my tractor insurance.
