  1. How dry is the wood your trying to kindle.
  2. All down to the quality of the gas and the quality of the engine. If it was a Jenbacher engine you would expert at least 10 years generating before the need for a refurbishment. To put it in context my to girls have been generating since 1938 and are good for at least another 50 years.
  3. Once we found out the hard way that the Esse was not man enough to do the central heating we installed a Dunsley Yorkshire just for the central heating. Had we known for a similar price of the Esse and Dunsley we could have bought a Lohberger which would have done the cooking, hot water and the central heating as well.
  4. No just ash. approx 45 gall drum full every 2 months or so I was told.
  5. Yes the stupid designers created efficient airways just forgot that over time they would clog up with soot and need cleaning but with no means of access hence the creation of little sticks with bath chain dangling from it and hoover pipes with lengths of 15mm water pipe taped to them.
  6. I have an Esse cooker which is the most badly engineered stove I have ever owned. Will eventually replace with an Austrian Lohberger when I get the strength to rip out this piece of junk. That said we do cook on it on a daily basis and it does provide hot water although not the central heating which they originally said it would be capable of doing.
  7. Total rubbish if that was the case there would be no movement on currency and I would not have saved £600 on my holiday to Sweden from the date I booked it in Nov 14 to when it had to be paid in Jul 15. Currencies normally fluctuate in long term cycles the pound/euro between the bands 1.15 to 1.45 with the banks/governments intervening when the boundaries are being pushed. At all other times the markets are dictated by the speculators.
  8. Heizohack going fine just need a new engine in the MB Trac to run it. Your heizohack with 50mm screen will easily do that you will just have to rescreen with a 15mm screen to take out the fines. Personally I would use a 20mm screen just to be on the safe side and adjust the price accordingly to take into account the extra waste.
  9. You may find they want it debarking before chipping.
  10. Pellets are a lot easier and will produce cleaner gas.
  11. Recipe for disaster. The holy grail "clean" gas from woodchip they have been trying to do it since WW2 and I am still not convinced anyone has achieved it which is why the serious CHP users have opted for Stirling engines, ORC or Steam.
  12. Its always been difficult to source being within easy haulage distance to Drax hopefully with the demise of Drax it will become easier although Wilton is still within haulage distance. If the writing was not on the wall for Drax I would not be looking to put a plant in Lincs.
  13. I know its not a lot but I have existing need in Lancs for 10,000 tonnes per year with an additional 10,000 tonne per year next year in Lincs.
  14. You would need at least 10,000 tonnes per annum to make it worthwhile opening a tree station in the area.
  15. Only jesting always put my processor on the MB if I am hiring out as time to get to site costs money. Little holder will not even lift the processor although new one which is bigger should be ideal as its also a 40k tractor.
  16. You kept that one quiet as I racked up in my old MB Trac showing its age. Its certainly a credit to you.
  17. Are you sure you have enough hp to run that log processor. I have a little 15hp Holder running my Palax. Not sure I could handle black as a colour I think I will leave that for Henry Ford.
  18. I would also give a big thumbs up to Perennial and they certainly know there stuff.
  19. I would of thought given your background in generators a CHP plant would be the easy solution of turning your sawdust into money.
  20. I have often thought of providing a mobile pelleting/briquetting facility but can never make the numbers stack up.
  21. can you not trade in for a more economic model.
  22. If I was using 18m3 with a 9kw stove in a well insulated house I would question how efficient the stove is or what moisture content your attempting to burn. Seems rather a lot.
  23. I thought VOSA had killed the dolly off with only manufactured 4 wheel trailers being allowed on the road now.
  24. You can do it behind a tractor so long as the trailer is unladen and the overall length is within a certain limit.
