  1. The rack is there for some protection from stray falling branches but didn't really do anything for a 4ft lump of 8" cherry [emoji24]
  2. This is it. Handy that it can still tow stuff to site so often fetches the grinder out or just a trailer for logs or as 1 unit for hedge cutting
  3. One of my setups 7k van and 40k chipper which in my mind is a far better distribution of funds because if the van breaks get another or hitch the chipper to something else and carry on but if the chipper brakes then your not working. If your going down the chipper route I'd consider going big and American as most firms don't have this and run smaller machines and increasingly sub 750kg so when a big job comes in that becomes the choke point so hiring in a bigger machine makes sense and worth decent money. Like a few have said a big grinder can work well as a stand alone service, tracked mewp or mini loader are also things a lot of companies don't own or use often enough to justify having but will become increasingly in demand as the benefits are realised more widely and can also cross over to other industries so upping the number of potential clients and filled days. I'd say I almost cover the cost of our landy cherrypicker each year with extra jobs especially little 1 or 2 hr jobs fitted in around our regular working day putting up signs, chimney liners, slipped roof tiles, running cables inside farm buildings etc that the client is happy to pay a decent bit for as its easy and convenient for us to drop in and do with them.
  4. Problem I'm finding with that 1 is " I haven't a clue what your on about but it looks fine to me" syndrome sneaking in which is a difficult 1 to overcome if they aren't willing to listen and learn.
  5. Cracked 2 off at the back as 1 off my sternum playing rugby then ended up with a chest infection and a hacking cough which was a interesting few weeks of pain. Surely a spout you can easily lift of isn't going to be heavy enough to affect the centre of gravity that much. Saying that when we had a quadchip we always folded the spout down for travelling but that was more to stop it wobbling around and stressing the mounts.
  6. They take my landy cherrypicker fine, just cut 4 8x4 sheets in half and use them to run onto grass to save damage.
  7. We didn't have to luckily as a naighbour asked if he could have all the timber so happily piled it on his drive. Otherwise it would have been a two man lift and sore shoulder tonight. Had this 1 about 5 years now and it's had a lot of abuse as half the time it's been used its attached to a winch and it now lives on the drawbar of the chipper so it's there if needed, even just for taking gear from truck to tree.
  8. All my gear and it's back to old faithful today
  9. I personally have a botex trailer for my tractor which shifts our big stuff and it's surprising how inventive you become with it to avoid manual handling. I bought a grab and rotator and made a bracket that can fit both a 2.5 and 8 ton digger which I can easily hire from a small local place as nd when it suits the job which saves having it sat costing when not working and no service costs. Arb trolly and winch on bandit chipper also works well for bringing timber in reach of botex. I've has a power barrow with a modified carrier for timber which worked very well as could scoop up quit a lump or stack smaller stuff on it easy but with the tracks grass damage was still a issue and boards needed as there is no finesse with the stearing. My honest answer is like everything in this job no 1 thing is perfect so you need to work out what is going to do the most for you and try find other options locally when needed.
  10. Inglorious bastards Enemy at the gate Watchmen For a giggle - Hot fuzz Shaun of the dead Paul Any of the avenges Including this masterpiece
  11. I hate the fact people set it as a deadline to get stuff done. It's a 70year old tree ffs another week isn't going to make any difference, had someone ask me last week if I would get conservation area permission quicker as it's nearly Christmas and having the tree gone before would look so much nicer for family coming over...... No!
  12. I hate doing reductions and even more so if it's a target rich environment like that, well done.
  13. Not quite the same but had a client contact me about a storm damaged tree wanting to know if we could do anything with it, remove it was my answer quote excepted Got council permission as it had tpo and put in a request for a powerline shutdown as has a lv line to the house under the canopie at the back to be told today the powerline contractor is going to do it for the client for free so loosing me a decent days work. Good for the client, bad for us.
  14. This band has found its way into my office playlist recently
  15. Over 20 years old and still earning a crust, cracking old truck. The crane will be worth more than the truck. Would be useful on some roadside trees I have to do soon, just lift big section down and deal with them on the floor.
  16. Lovely looking chip Can't see the high viz in the hopper lasting long once whole trees start disappearing into it.
  17. A few that look very suss! https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F142606538022 Bandit has been for sale by quite a few different sellers and even for a st6 this is too cheap and pictures are from a redwood listing https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F142606537974 , lots of other stuff listed at bargain prices.
  18. Almost had this, now I'm simply checking as part of a vti report I'm doing at the address 🤔[emoji6]
  19. Yeh thanks for that, my kids are now running round the house singing that, ahhhhh
  20. Zt out grinding with some nice architecture to look at and a sycamore with some serious structural issues.
  21. Think that's bad, how about a competitive company of ours having tpo's put on 3 trees they also priced to remove but didn't get the job to do, managed to get two lifted but 3rd tree is still standing.
  22. Yes, only happened since it was down for a bit and now still, 1st thought was it had forgotten what I'd posted in but since then it hasn't added for instance this thread as being taken part in.
  23. Only thing is that I have noticed is on the app I no longer have Partisapated threads and it just comes up empty.
