  1. Few pictures of being out on Friday removing a ash that was flagged as high priority with the meelo, this machine surprises me every time we use it just how efficient it is, the top I took was about 1000kg and in a small garden would have been a decent tree in its own right!
  2. It's around 900kg so straight out level we max out before we run out of potential reach but can work at full hight of 25 m with still over 500kg The 6t machine is better for this but apart from being like hens teeth they are a lump bigger and far les versatility as we can still use this as a loader, drop the head and use chains for heavy or far out lifting or fit the new man basket and have a 25m mewp capacity
  3. Still erring on the cautious side and guessing the weights is a good game against what the computer tells you it is the big log in 1st picture which was about 15 or 16" at cut was just over a ton which means I'm good for that lift at 12m out and straight up to 24m Best position is to within 10m of your cut point which gives 1500kg of available lift which is realistically a rather massive lump of tree that going to be difficult to put down so better to do small and often so the guys can clear it as you go.
  4. Playing out in the sun with the merlo yesterday, amazing how efficient this machine combination is. If your on instergram look up our profile. ' Dryadarb ' for a timelapse of the job.
  5. AC price sell the nisula tilt grabs and think they have one reduced at moment, only problem with these is they are very long when tilted so a 2.5 struggles to lift high enough to work close in This is a jak 250 on a 8t bobcat and you can see how long from end of dipper to blade it is, yes it's very manovarable and excellent at stacking but got to be out a bit or drags on ground, few mods I have in mind to help with this eventually.
  6. ??‍♂️ predictive text messing up my production
  7. Sounds fun, where abouts. Trying to keep going with limited staff in.
  8. Thanks Conor, the valtra with the roof mounted and chipper unfortunately arnt my machine but belong to a good friend of mine who we have a really good working relationship with and frequency help each other out.
  9. Biomass recovery from a thinning job we have been doing to reduce the volume of brash left as it's troop training ground which makes large pikes a fire risk.
  10. Run a jak200 from Wilson's on our E26 and have done some serious amount of work with it and for a small machine it's incredibly predictive.
  11. That's not a cure for the virus but definitely a cure for quarantine boardam!
  12. But of neglected shrub bashing yesterday to help stop this cut through being used as a rubbish dump, no way was I touching anything by hand so flail, rake and grab did the lot from the comfort of the cab.
  13. Is it just me or do silky and cottontop of of YouTube have a uncanny likeness
  14. Yes, he'd loned me this older one while our one was getting prepared due to a sensor problem, all sorted now thanks to Matt's skills.
  15. More forestry this week working in tandem with Low Impact Forestry Ltd and his excellent little Log Bullet getting into all the tight or seriously wet bits of the woodland to finish of two thinnings jobs, both machines excelling at what they do one being light and quick on short hauls the other shifting 7-9 ton a turn the half mile + to the wagon stacking area
  16. You need to have a look for the old Maurice Saunders books with lots of pictures from the 40s onwards of how they shifted truly massive timber with very basic equipment compared to today's machine's
  17. We have a insta account and have it linked to my website as a extension of the gallery but as far as I know have never got a job directly from it apart from sub contractor work with some of our kit to other tree company's. http://www.instagram.com/dryadarb if you fancy a look.
  18. No mixing as run on aspen all the time and have used husqvarna cans for about 4 years without any problems with the spouts which I put down to not using pump fuel which has been proven to degrade them. We have more issues with the oil fillers getting broken so gone into the old fashioned pore type.
  19. Decent bit of forwarding for the last 3 days, nicely keeping self isolating in the tractor cab and a secluded lunch in the sun, but of a bugger when the trailer decided to have a nap as well [emoji848]
  20. It's so stable and can actually be very delicate on the control's
  21. Clearly about as helpful to the self employed as ever.
  22. Jackson s didn't have any last year when I needed bits so we actually found it easier to send all the cilnders to a wagon parts reconditioning company, sorry can't remember who off hand and everything came back as new for less cost.
  23. Thankfully just got 2400 ltd delivery today so can crack on with some extraction and firewood.
  24. I know it's probably not the most important thing in the scheme of things but do you think the ecologists will have to wind there neck's in this spring since we are effectively loosing the last chance to get stuff cleared and keeping the economy going is more important than possible disturbing a few nests. Might get shot down for this but hey it's been on my mind along with everything else.
