  1. Ta for all the encouragement guys, latest update is the officer dealing with it (different county) don,t answer his phone,my county's ordered it to be seized but apparently it takes time.My trailer dealer and Ifor been great. My local PCSO reckons other forces drag feet cos it don't affect their clear up rate, only the county where it was stolen!!! Beginning to think i should raise a posse and collect it myself!
  2. cheers geoff, and everyone else too.I'f i'd been insured i wouldn't have probably been bothered.cleaned me out replacing everything,my mrs and mother even chipped in.just gotta find 4 saws and a long reach now but i'm still on the case
  3. They wouldn't seize it cos i charged up there all of a rush with no paperwork, never re-registered it in my name when i split from a partnership, ifor and their dealer been very helpful, guy selling it seemed like he bought it in good faith.i'm producing paperwork tomorrow.I replaced it so might have one for sale soon if anyone's interested lol Josh: things are good now mate, but obviously not as good as you globetrotting ha
  4. Well, well, well.my tipper was nicked off my drive a year and a week ago,i've scoured plant magazines, the web and watched the bay religously, monday it pops up on a well known auction site! went and viewed it,it was mine, was like being re-united with an old school friend.went straight down the cop shop,in the process of producing documents of proof of ownership etc but hopefully she's coming home It caused me alot of stress at the time,my van was also done and if i'm honest it took me months to pick myself up off the floor.just thought i'd share my good news guys. steve
  5. Ditto that one,the 26 is good at what it does and will outpunch its weight occasionally when required, but for logging grab something stronger (and i've got a 26 for sale),how's that for honesty?
  6. I'd have aimed for that fork and definitely missed it
  7. more of a crap fell than a stunt fell that one
  8. good advice above.cut it 3-4ft,split and stack as high as poss, bark side up,dries amazingly quickly with a half decent summer.i got alot of oak in this year, will be logged and barn stored by the end of september, should be worth far more than it is!!
  9. I got summa these! type A though, had them 2 years and a month now, really good zip and crutch, cost me about 90 quid from arb ireland off the net.the yellow is a bit garish but makes ya look like a pro and soon goes dull!
  10. for the uninitiated mr jones, what and where is this show? i'll come and bring a friend or two if there's a) a deal on b) a few beers involved
  11. looks like a starling to me clarice
  12. I got my sip's and boots from the same guys, can't fault them either
  13. i may be slightly interested if its ridiculously cheap
  14. he musta been a 'COMPLETE' idiot stevie cos i think honda made the prelude
  15. give it a go mate, aint that hard, number everything or write down the order you stripped it etc,if you left with any bits at the end you did it wrong lol
  16. not used one for many years but mine used to do the same,i just thought it was overwork, wear and tear etc, them cables take alot of stick
  17. get it in,logged and stored early otherwise it can rot quick! i just bought a large amount at a reasonable price and will feel better when its in the barn before september cos it really don't like wet weather, bit like poplar
  18. how does this saw go in comparison to the three, nine, five? sorry about the letters,my numbers are broken on my keyboard lol.is it a newer model?
  19. witches wood mate,my mother wouldn't have it in the house...............mother in law loved it though
  20. i've just bought 70 ton of mixed softwood at roadside and only want half of it,i'll let the rest go for a reasonable price if you sort out your own haulage,pm me if your interested
  21. ditto,my farmer mate is no fool and a very modern, consciencious guy,i advised him about the burnand told him pop takes a bit of getting going so he might need a couple of tyres or some waste oil () he used neither and manned it all day, more than likely would've checked it all night at regular intervals.i just think its a bit of an insult to common sense
  22. thanks skyhuck, that maybe explains why one of first questions on insurance quotes is about burning.i've been hedgerow coppicing for last 3 weeks and although my fires are down to ash when i knock off they smoulder for up to a week, nominal risk though IMO,only to tresspassers
  23. thoughts on this one guys please.my farmer mate has about 30 acres of poplar plantation planted about 7 years ago.he also has a green waste site that he has just leased out to SITA.they want to extend it swallowing about 2 acres of the pops.spent tuesday knocking over the pops and him pushing them up to burn.i'm elsewhere now and he rings tonight saying fire brigade turned up (tip off) to put fire out, they said he can keep burning if he mans it for 48hrs!! its 1/2 mile from main road/footpath,the ground is saturated so the risk to me seems very low.he lost his rag and told them to put it out.does a controlled burn have to be manned for that long? is it on fire size? petty i thought
  24. aforementioned local sawmill just sold out to a local gas firm, never thought i'd see the day.they owned most the village and employed them at one point, landed gentry.used to fetch timber nationwide and famous for their gates, planking and war effort.i believe they got a good price and still farm so starvation is not an issue, just a shame.anyone else know or gonna miss em?
  25. if you get any facts or answers be sure to post them.i took down half a dozen dead acacias last autumn and didn't know what killed them
