  1. just make sure you get your agreement with him in writing Dean. i think your doing the right thing, i would still let the FC and HSC know what the crack is. Make sure you cover all the bases on your next bit of land... hope everthing works out all best
  2. northampton mate, which estate is it ? you`ll love it down here tree hunter.... best of luck
  3. what about a Mule or something like that. grizzly 450 are brilliant and the new Honda foreman is ment to be very good and there doing great deals at the mo....
  4. this problem has been around for years, we were told about it a college....im surprised no one else knew about it...
  5. use chestnut fencing....it works on munjac, limited on roe and fallow. i would be blunt with them and cough up more money for better protection or loose trees. as the meercat on the adds puts it "simples". you can plant other under-canapy for them to brouse on. i`ve wondered if a layed hedge would stop munjac round a planted area ? A high seat and a deer legal rifle is the best way. You can shoot deer at night under licence if thats the best way. we have loads of the buggers around Northampton ! get in touch with a stalker to help you out... best of luck
  6. i would get "air gunner" and "air gun world" magazine and have a look through them, that way you`ll have a wide choice of rifles and prices. If you do buy a rifle i would join BASC,CLA or one of the others. good luck
  7. nice one, could you put some more photos on.... a few close up`s please. they look bloody good....
  8. Bear

    do you shoot?

me too, shotguns and firearms.... i was woody shooting the other day
  9. suffer the same problem with the trees we do for farmers.....stihl do hardened chains but they are only for rescue services......im trying to get one through a fireman i know. The sharpeners to work well, but the down side is i find that they heat the cutting edge up which affects the metal and doing it by hand you get a better edge with out the problems. but for speed and getting the job done they work well. we bolt the sharper onto are landy and then plug it in which works great.... best of luck
  10. looked into the ifor williams with the botex38, steep for the money they want...plus the combo of trailer, grab and timber starts to get a little heavy.
  11. nice work quickthorn... i`ve seen it done on willow, which takes well. I`ll give that ago tomo when doing stakes and binders.... any other old techniques ?
  12. interesting thred, over the last few mounths i have been carring out tree work for the EA and they aloud us to burn on site with the consent of the land owner. i was surprised when we were told we could burn. it would be interesting to see which is better for the enviroment ...chipping or burning ? as for the tree shears, yes they do make a mess but are only used on a few sites. where it does impact on wildlife etc... the work is carried out by hand, either by them or arb sub-contractors.

    winch

if your looking at using it ever now and then, i`d go for a worn winch. but if your going to use it alot then look at a hydraulic one...
  14. make the gits work for it ! i would put a gate up and yes the trip mine does work well !!!!!! stealth cameras work well, eaither buy one or borrow one if you know a game keeper.... place it where they must park there car, so it can catch the no. plate.... check out http://www.bushwear.co.uk
  15. learn as much a you can from others and if you do`nt like cleaning up mess.......do another job !!!!!!!
  16. start on the 25th, looking forward to beating and i`ve managed to get two days shooting on a local estate, which has some good fast/high birds.... still not shot my first pheasent yet, which i hope to put right this season. 20. as a keen ratter my self i would use terriers ! there are plenty of lads running terrier packs in wales ! lift the wood up with your tractor and send the dogs in, smoke them out and let the dogs go to work ! if your stuck i know a few lads down that way and would be glad to help. The other option are Fennman mk5/6 using maze as bate. look at BASC for the use of the traps. good hunting
  21. its a Daimler (unimog) special trucks division U5000, made for the German,South African, OZ and for NZ. nice bit of kit ! sadly when there old there sold off to african state ! ..... but theres always the lottery !!

    Quads

i would go with a honda or kawasaki grizzly.... i`ve used most of them but the grizzly 450cc was wicked ! i used it in some really rough areas(in and around forests, bogs moving trees and stakes for planting) it never skipped a beat. i would shop about and get some out on demo. you could also try a kawasaki mule
  23. i would have to say 066 would be my choice, but i`ll give anything a go... they all have there pro`s and cons
  24. Bear
