  1. Do a search here, it will come up. Buying in Latvia or Lithuania is best, but there are a number of hoops to jump through, you will need to order in 40 foot containers and be able to unload same in 2 hours max. A
  2. We insulate most inset stoves as this is most manufacturers recommendation but we very rarely insulate free standing stoves. My home and showroom freestanding stoves both burn dry but lower grade wood, willow, pop, pine etc, the stoves are run pretty well flat out all the time. Both stoves do about 1000 hours a year and are not shutdown overnight, I sweep the chimney every 2 years and never get any more than a kilo of soot out. A
  3. Me, along with willow, pine and conni. Pop if dried well is fine and generates significant heat. Been burning it in my showroom this winter, A
  4. Think it was a time thing, to many sales and not enough stock ready to go. A
  5. That is a fact, friend here has some from a different supplier to mine and had to put it into his kiln to finish the drying, dont need to do that with my guy but cost is higher, A
  6. Your logs are fine, research by a major UK stove manufacturer has revealed that the optimum moisure level for minimal particulate emissions is 11% - 13%. My own imported kiln dried product is quite a bit drier than that, customers love it, never had a complaint. A
  7. It is, £40 I would suggest is about right depending on the weight. But is costs £1.50 a mile to run a delivery van or 4x4, plus the trailer, so there and back = £60 plus your time, so £70 actually probably cheaper than you can do it. A
  8. That is a pretty substantial set of wires in the carriageway, should be not to hard to spot. Suggest its probably within a few miles of a weigh bridge. I have just such a weigh bridge at M1 J18 so will have a look as I drive that bit of motorway fairly often. A
  9. I find Geodis pretty good for sending stoves, hand deliver all my wood though. Prices will depend on the number of pallets per day. A
  10. I retail stoves, not Jotul for several reasons. I am not aware of any other quality stove builder saying that. I have burnt lots of Pine over the years, once dry it burns like hell. I have never had any issue with chimney deposits., great heat output, just 30 min reloads as opposed to 40 mins or so with hardwood. Just get it dry and the stove nice and hot before loading it. A
  11. Can see how a prospective purchaser would know or ask about likely spares back up. Its just not a question that comes up at point of sale but is taken for granted that spares are quickly and easily available. Its only 5 years down the road when they need a grate or a baffle plate they find out the truth. By that time many on line and distance sellers have long gone. A
  12. Once you explain that Firefox and the like are imported probably from the far east or eastern Europe most people ( ladies especially) want to buy a British made product. For every Hamlet I sell 100 Aarrow/Villager ( Arada) stoves. A
  13. I use a £35 Morso moisture meter so probably not bang on accurate. I usually billet over size stuff in May/june then store outside on bearers for nine months, cut to length and store in vented bags in a dutch barn with three open sides the following spring. Sub 250mm cord gets put through the processor in the spring whole. On my gauge its about 8% external at this time of year, by the spring its risen to about 12 - 14% again external. AT the end of the day a couple of percent here and there is not that important, Hetas are now allowing 20% under their wood sure scheme. I have today been burn Euc in the showroom stove, only felled this spring my gauge said 19% so I thought I would give it a go. It burnt yes but not as well as I would like and will therefore be stored for another year in vented bags. A
  14. Thats down to them, as long as when the logs leave the care of the seller they are good thats all we can do. Log storage is something I cover in my new stove owner info pack supplied free with all new stoves. Usually logs are either stores in a garage or a dedicated log store, this will allow air ( and rain) to get at the ends but a decent roof on the top keeps the rain out of the bulk. I have had an old lady complain her stove would not generate any heat, went and got it going and no problems, asked about her fuel storage, she put them in the pond for a couple of weeks otherwise they burnt to fast !!. A
  15. Doubt it. I asked three times for the service hours data and was told they did not have it. The crankcase is the original one though. A
  16. Got that rebuilt 560 back a week or two ago, sounds throatier but now runs good as ever. We have a local issue with a group of caravan dwellers who have moved onto a local country park. Apart from using the childrens play area as a toilet forcing it to be closed they ( or someone like them) are breaking into many farms and houses in the area. Four or five have been done within 2 or 3 miles since they have arrived. So having now acquired a new 462 I was looking to register them on the Arbsafe web site however I cannot find a serial number on the 560, looked at the HV web site and in the places they suggest except so far under the bar, its getting serviced on Sunday after a bit of work on Tuesday. Its a 2014 model with very little use so the plate will not have been knocked off. I dont remember seeing a plate under the bar when blowing the crap off with the air line, any ideas where I can find the serial number please ?. Thanks A
  17. Where have you found artic loads in Northampton ?, I am 10 miles away and been looking for a reliable hardwood cord supplier for years. Got plenty of soft thanks. Haulier Tracey Pinney, ( TGP Trucking) has ( or did have) a rigid 8 wheeler with log grab, details are on Google, I have mobile number if needed. Based Earls Barton, thats 8 miles from Npton. ( Its a guy not a lady !!) A
  18. Thats one of the key issues when buying a new stove and frequently ignored by buyers and most sellers. All my manufacturers offer an overnight ( chargeable) service on parts with excellent availability. I dont act for Jotul, some years ago when I tried to order a curved glass and gave them the sizes and serial number of the stove they could not id it, they had neither of the options in the UK and refused to order in the two so that we could ascertain the correct one. Morso even keep parts in UK stock for 40 and 50 year old models. So buy cheap, online, without local dealer back up, then you pays your money and takes a chance. A
  19. Go here; https://www.hetas.co.uk/find-installer/ Put your postcode in, you want a dry stove install. That will throw up all the Heats registered installers but these are not graded from crap upwards, so it a matter of sorting wheat from the chaff. PM me if you want a chat. A
  20. Any Hetas registered installer can undertake the install, but take up references as its not hard to get a Hetas ticket. You could do it yourself but it would then need to be signed off as safe to use by a building inspector. A
  21. At 5kw nominal then the Morso 04 would work well, the 4kw rated S11 series would also be fine having a max output of around 6.5kw. The former will give you 100mm at the sides, the latter 150mm which is preferred for better air flow. With the exception of two models all Morso stoves exceed the proposed Eco design requirements. A
