  1. Mental ! K
  2. Well, you can do what ever yr brief says you can ! If yr manual says do not modify a tool ( any tool in point ) then yr stuck with that regarding what you give yr employees . If I decide I want to use Spuds ported saw , thats my own choice , and I am sure I will enjoy using his efforts . K
  3. I will probably never own a ported saw , as I generally just pick up a bigger saw , but Spuds work on top handled saws certainly is a benefit , just use the get-out I put up earlier K
  4. Its usually in the tool manual and Puwer requires you follow that manual and have it with you K .
  5. Probably will run , old guy probably popped his clogs n been forgotten abt . K
  6. Well, yr spud ported saw will run abt same chainspeed ( dictates yr class of trouser) bit noisier ( red banded ear muffs) puWeR don't allow modification of tools, unless a factory modification. Just say you " took it to this guy who serviced it, and now it runs really great" 😉😉 K
  7. I would try out with yr local tree company to get experience. But language and no driving license is a big problem 🙁 K
  8. Cherry brandy more like. K ( which i do indeed like)
  9. Atrocious, no other word. Looks a bit too sound for 130 yrs tho 🤔 however no excuse for that butchery. K
  10. Usually the stuff you buy domestically is way weaker than commercial stuff anyway ( risk averse these folks) K
  11. Not too bad, they react well to pruning, if top was dead, wots the base like? K
  12. Makes me fancy a bit of a walk along Offa's Dike. AA web seminar saved me the bother 😉 K
  13. 'Tree hunter' nears end of 13 year nature project WWW.BBC.CO.UK Rob McBride records ancient and culturally significant trees along Offa's Dyke. Well done that man. K
  14. 'pin it on him ' firmly 😁 k
  15. Next to me, by the sound of that k
  16. Something got under yr skin there Kev, perchance 😬 let me finish cooking n open the vin 😉 K
  17. ' shape' no, load of good growth points there, plenty of scope for a good canopy without hammering it, with easy picking fr fruit- probably got a bit cyclical on fruiting so a prune could buck it up a bit. Mulching definate and check soil. Possibly offer alternate planted tree to help pollination. K

    Jokes???

Am sure you will see me out, Mr Stubby. K
  19. Thinking more Maltese cross, 10p in per member, should be enuff nickel silver for that - i will take the hit if HM Royal mint gets a sniff of it. K
  20. Mix it to consistency you want, but a hot summer day yr gonna smell 😉 K
  21. Nicely done and no fencing wire 🙂 K
  22. I have got a hearth and crucible if you need castings, just say how big 😁 K
  23. Wonder if using engineers cutting oil as chain lube, cheap and water based so will cool bars better than veg based oil, try differnt mixes- think Oregons version of it was 5 water to 1 oil , but you will stink after running it 😬 K
  24. Well Matthecks research was quite extensive, however i condemned a line of Lombardys couple years ago, well beyond the limit t/R 30% of decay and annoyingly the buggers are still standing, but wont be parking my car under them. Case by case will always throw up exceptions and Mattheck himself told me any tree within strike distance of a Rail line should be felled 😮 so what do you do 😯 K
  25. To be fair to Matthecks work and others, his data did see failures outside the guide t/r , so by averaging its a sound guide, but quite literally can fall down on individual trees. K
