  1. Well spotted Mr Bolam! The hook is actually for my cidre tankard, chipper not being the crumpet catcher I hoped it would be... Ty
  2. Hello Mr B, Did you ever run any road tow machines? Regards Ty
  3. No-one gets 6 month tests on any product. Except girlfriends, which is why I used to chop them in so often. Eventually, I found a reliable one which wouldn't let me down, low maintenance, expensive outlay initially but low long term running costs. Treat your chippers like you treat your women. Keep them close, keep them lubed and watch what they eat... Ty
  4. Hello R.H, That rate of pay is less that the minimum wage now. Our 2 climbers have 3 years experience and I rate them both highly. They deserve more than the 1400 gross per month and should be closer to 1800 really. Self employed is quite another matter though... You can work abroad for up to 180 days in a tax year. To be legit you need to supply proof that you are self employed in the U.K. A copy of your previous tax declaration, proof of address and a letter from your 'employer' offering you the work. Ty
  5. GM replaced the 190 with a new 200 end of January. This is an excellent machine. I've personally only used it for one day 2 weeks ago putting 5 hours on the clock chipping Macrocarpa but that was enough of a test. The roller feed is horizontal, easier to feed and the rollers far more aggressive. Ty
  6. Morning, Greenmech have never let me down on the aftersales front. They have been patient, talked me through repairs to our CS100 and Quadchip as well as supplying some parts even after the warranty expired. Our 190 had genuine issues from new which where unrelated to any maintenance regime. Roller blocking and hydro connections failing to remain tight. Local dealer was a wet lettuce with the 190 being dropped off and ignored for over 2 weeks on one occasion. In France, there is a deeply rooted culture of denial. It starts at school, kids are taught that backing down or apologising is a sign of weakness. Later in adult life, this extends to customer service. Denial of any liability even in the face of full on facts. I'll never buy here again as the next Gallic shrug I get will certainly be the dealers last. Anyway, I diverge...
  7. Non-existant. Ty
  8. G.M sent me 2 complete drums out to France. Complete with knives too. I think they knew just what a ball ache it would be swapping bearings etc over. Ty
  9. Hope this link works. METEO %%% par Météo-France - Prévisions météo gratuites à 15 jours sur la France, les régions et les départements On the left are the days and hours. 34c most afternoons. Ty
  10. Being here, total immersion, is far better than learning French in a class. Even being unemployed, scratching a tempory living on a diet of oddjobs and second home owners hedges will be a better class room than a year of language courses. Ty
  11. 34c in the shade East of Rennes towards Fougeres. I managed 62km on the velo before my palid skin told me enough. Drove to the coast for a late afternoon dip in the old briny. Never seen such traffic leaving St Malo. Ty
  12. I'll broaden the remit here to any TP or FSI branded road tow. Ty
  13. Time to move on. I'll tell you all about it once it's over. Meanwhile, what about TP chippers? Ty
  14. Hello, I saw these at the Arb show recently. Any feedback from users on any of the roadtow models? They seem well built but reviews are thin on the ground. It's the folding chute option which is an added bonus for stowing in the garage at home or in a container at my future yard. Ty
  15. When I come across such, I mark with a stake, take images, mow around them and inform the client afterwards. If the client say mow next time then at least your back is covered. Mind you, in law, not all flowers are protected. http://naturenet.net/blogs/2008/05/09/arent-all-orchids-protected/ Ty
  16. Hello, Let's just say, that for now, I am living in 'interesting times'... Ty
  17. How is your French? I have friends living here who despite being able to get by in French on a daily basis are regularly told their language skills are not enough even for factory or abattoir work. Certainly the 3 French in our company have no interest in trying to speak English with either me their employeur or the various British lads who have passed through. From experience, it's not great working in a team where the conversation flows around you rather than through you. Ty
  18. In the West. serp.fr kern-elagage.bzh orn-elagage.fr Ty
  19. Hello, Welcome to one of the least open job markets in Europe. Although I am unable to advise you I wish you luck all the same. Why France anyway? It must either be for the love of a girl or the love of skiing... Regards Ty
  20. I simply cannot see where £12'600 has gone in an HB20 and I am a fan of them too! Ty
  21. It's alot more money in fact. 10'500 plus vat against 6'500 plus vat for the 460. I don't think you get much more machine though except in weight. Ty
  22. I'm 4 tank fills into my new Woodstar top handle which was on offer for 69euros in Brico-Merde which is part of the B&Q group. First I thought it horrible, too gutless to be of any use. However it soon ran in and it certainly is as pokey as the wee 150. It starts easily and is light weight and comfortable to use but the choke lever has got caught and pulled up a fee times whilst scrambling around the canopy. Looks to be a close copy of a Tanaka saw which in turn resemble Echo. Bought it to use as a chipper saw but mostly just out of plain curiousity. I've kept the receipt and I've 2 years warranty on it so I'm not worried if fails under guarantee. Ty
  23. A saw with a 'Racing' bar must be worth a punt... Ty
  24. Wearing jeans? He's a red corduroy kind of guy no? Ty
  25. A direct line to Greenmech service department. Ty:001_tt2:
