  1. Any idea of the price? Ty
  2. I'm only bothering to mess around testing these saws because I'm curious and flush with cash from wood chip sales. The Woodstar top handle has a 25cm bar and is about as powerfull as the Stihl 150 but heavier, more fragile and less economical. If I had 1500euros to blow I'd try out a Lumag against a GM CS100. Ty
  3. Update, it was a pleasure to use although probably better off with a 40cm rather than the 45cm bar supplied. However, I'd almost finished the first tank when after lunch it refused to start. Took out the plug, no spark. Merde alors! Ty
  4. Having already bought the Woodstar top handle for 69euros, I thought that I'd give the 89euro ground saw a punt. I'll run it on Aspen like the other. It ran up nicely, feels and sounds like it has some poke. From what I've read, the carb is made by the same company as Stihl. Gets used in anger next weekend so I'll report back. Ty
  5. Gives you a sheltered place to eat sarnies in the rain or a discreet dump as needs require... Ty
  6. I am Mendiplogs! (Spartacus) Ty
  7. I just like to suck the jam out of other peoples do-nuts. Ty
  8. I normally go with Mr Bolam but there are a select few who get up my nose. So I'll do whatever I can to pinch work from them. Not because I need it, because I can and I know I'll get a reaction from doing so even if I cannot witness it myself. Ty
  9. Hope that wasn't taken out of context, 'fuel injected bull sh#t' ha ha ha! Anyway, has anyone out there used the 150P or even the Forst petrol in anger yet? Ty
  10. Fuel injected 'BS' This tickled my funny bone. I think you've created a new phrase here for when some-one is full on lying... ha ha ha! Ty
  11. It doesn't make me smell of used cooking oil too unlike some makes. Ty
  12. I find Aspen veg chain oil less of an issue. Too the point I don't notice a sheen at all on tarmac. Ty
  13. Reminds me of the smell of sealion scat which blew down wind as I cycled up the East coast of South Island N.Z Ty
  14. Been quiet since Mendiplogs left... Ty
  15. In a clients garden since being introduced in bark chip mulch in 2010. Dozens of these present, perhaps hundreds although the gardener had mowed most of them down. The smell is... vile. Ty
  16. I bought a new Stihl hedgecutter from reputable dealer in the East of Brittany. It ran up nicely and gave good service for the first tank of Aspen then performed badly as though it was just out of tune. I couldn't use full throttle as it would die and it was gutless and so poor running I gave up on my hedge for the day and went home. Back to the dealer, he ran it up sweet as it should be. So there, I look like a #### in front of himself and the mechanic. What you run it on? Oh, Aspen eh, well that is bad stuff, very poor, lot's of problems, better to use Stihl's Motomix blah blah blah... I exploded... Told him I wasn't some weekend gardener and that I've been using Aspen for 5 years now with never a problem and that he is lowering his credibility with me trying to pin an intermittant running fault of a new machine on Aspen rather than looking further at the machine. FFS... 'king French customer service... I then collected my pole saw and found they had changed the carb on it charging me 180euros without asking me first when I only dropped it in for a service and tune up the chuffing funts! They told me the carb leaked, so I asked for my old one back. Where would a carb leak from anyway and why change it and not mend it? New carb was 100euros plus fitting. Jeepers... Ty
  17. I'm a big fan of the GM130 with it's petrol 23hp V twin. I regularly use one belonging to a mate in the West of Brittany. It's productive enough when keeping wood for fuel and it's size only tells on long conifer jobs. For the extra 15hp I would have thought the 150p would have been able to process more than half a ton extra per hour though. I've also used the TW125 on several occasions and can see why it has such a following. I'd also be tempted with a TW160 which has a fine looking spec but for the lack of brakes. Ty
  18. Brakes... I cannot understand why a machine costing over 10k would not have even a handbrake. Can't rely on chocks alone and it's still heavy enough to get away from you on a slope. So it's a vote for the GM130 in this case. Ty
  19. No, I get that as a wider coverage rash and that itches like a word you cannot use on this forum but looks like !#*# Ty
  20. Narrowed it down to Bird Mites or Oak Mites. Damned sure it aint Scabies Mites! I was bitten by a False Black Widow whilst hedge cutting in Hampshire Winter 2007 I had alot of fatigue and aching muscle symptoms for a couple of days. Ty
  21. Aside from the various species of horsefly and flowerbugs which I attract, I get bitten when working on oaks and always on my neck and torso. Small red and itchy, almost like little mosquito bites. Raised mound with a red penetration mark like a pinprick. I could actually feel something crawling under my shirt but couldn't identify it. Could it be spiders? Some species of mite? Ty
  22. That looks to be very good value, little used. Ty
  23. How about approaching this differently. Suggest to the client the impractical nature of the hedge. Reduction instead of trying to trim. Leaving it at a height the gardener can cope with with. Ty
  24. One point to bear in mind is... That the single cylinder, non-commercial engines fitted to these low priced chippers will not have the same pickup rate, smoothness of running, engine note or longevity as the V twin such as fitted to machine such as the CS100 or higher end Jo Beau. The engine fitted might not be designed for much more than what a home owner would use in a life time of occasional weekends. Nor the metal used able to withstand the stresses of professional use. I guess if you are not using these low end chippers as your main machine year in year out they are worth a punt for a start up Arb business. Ty
  25. Wow, mithering about a few quid on materials... I'd be selling up the service and making it sound good value rather than counting the centimes so. Ty
