  1. yes it does seem to be getting better.
  2. do you need a hand assecender with a knee acssender ? never tried one , happy enough to let the legs do the work. i used a petzl one which was fine, although the little kong one looks good.
  3. i recently got a zubat and i went for the new large tooth version, it seems a lot more effort and not as smooth in the cut, probably faster on very soft wood but as an all round saw im not so sure, ive kind of got used to it now so i was wondering if any one else has tried one. carl
  4. im only messin, you bought it so may as well get the most from it, absolutely nothing wrong with trying to save your body.
  5. do you do any jobs without your mini loader ?
  6. the shultz effect is on my shopping list, good to see your endorsement
  7. not mine at all!, just thought id share as thought it was a bloody good watch, talented guy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M43QL0qIIcY
  8. yes it was the horizontal small log mill i was thinking of. i just couldnt resist a couple of 20" dia scots pine logs at work, it was close to home with good access so i got them, ive always passed on logs before, as needed hiab lift, dont really have a use for the wood etc, but iam getting more drawn to trying to use the wood as apposed to . ringing it up . gona start small and cheap and see if the need/desire/ timber supply/grows. thanks for your advice. carl
  9. i am thinking of dipping my toe into milling with one of these, i dont really have a big enough saw but i have an old one i dont mind giving a bit of stick. i was also looking at the bigger alaskans but it seems you have to attatch the saw at two points so that wouldnt suit my small bar, i just thought id end up getting one and a bigger saw in the end so didnt want to buy two mills. so my question!?? anyone use the granberg mini mill?? thanks.
  10. thanks for the replies, seems i wont put bother putting stuff on.
  11. no its not that one, similar though cant remember the name as ive lent it out.
  12. i think id be lucky to get that down with a modern saw!! handsaw ? dream on! incredible stuff , ive got a whole book of these black and white photos from that era, serious boys.
  13. no not the really cool silver ones ! but the comfy red ones, what do people put on them to help them last??, ive always had plain leather before. thanks carl
  14. are these any good?? saw them a while back and thought they maybe usefull where you dont really want to side load a karribiner ( although id say you would really need to load it to damage it but it never looks great doing it). could be good blocking down a stem as your lower back up main line.
  15. thanks for the reply, may upgrade in time or if these cheap units fail, cant belive the difference to the day with the comm sets , would now spend more on them if we had too. carl
  16. how are people finding these sena units in terms of noise cancellation ??? we are using a cheap fodsport pair which are fine but when someone is chipping or using a husky 560 then you have to turn them off which is a pain for certain jobs.
  17. hand signals are important but having just started using comm headsets the difference is night and day.
  18. are you sure vespian isnt on the arbtalk payroll to stir it all up and rile people to boost up the post quantity's, like some one on those awful daytime chatshows!!????
  19. ye "keep right out the f****** way".
  20. what they were doing wrong started a long time before they put in that suspect back cut!!!!

good to see you havent changed in your absence !
  22. welcome , i think as others have said there are a few female posters on here, but id say 99% of the info/ knowledge questions on here would apply to either gender really which is cool. good luck and enjoy. carl.
  23. ive been dabbling with srt since the first rope wrench came out , i paired it up with the lockjack that i use and love for drt, it worked ok but i wanted a neater dedicated mechanical srt device, so i went for a bulldog bone, what a solid well made bit of engineering! ive been using it for a while now and it seems really predictable, what id call fit and forget, i love the fact its midline attatchable too. i use a chest harness too advance it which seems to work fine, descents are fine although like most mechanical devices it takes a while to dial in how much to release vs how quick you want to descend. you can pull up the rope below the device to take in the slack much the same as with a hitchclimber pulley, just without the 2:1 effect. all in all iam well pleased with the device although i havent really used any of the other devices on the market. thanks to Gordon. ( the maker) carl
  24. the one that does the rakers at the same time? a friend uses one and he seems to get a nice edge and a smooth cut,
  25. i use an end of a silicon tube nozzle rammed into the leather gaurd that came with the spikes, its better but still not ideal. manufactures certinaly could come up with somthing a bit more substantial than the leather ones, spikes cost enough after all.
