  1. Not yet he hasnt but no doubt the scum will try again once the cheque clears:thumbdown: Price of scrap has dropped so there will be loads of this going on atm unfortunately.
  2. So. £150 if your good, as a newbie you wont be very good so less than £50 probably in the real world.

Just an idea from another member. Songs im listening to lately, what are you listening too? [ame= ] [/ame]
  4. What a sad state of affairs. Im sure the neighbour has a TPO specimen tree on their property hence the concern, I bet they bloody well have not.
  5. Unless you know how bad the injury was it doesnt mean anything. People go to A&E because they have a cough so trapping their finger in a wheelie is probably a fairly big ordeal to some. I like the video:laugh1: she didnt miss a beat.
  6. There is no way I would ever entertain doing a tree job without a chipper. So for that reason I knew the rates of the local hire companies, knew enough friendly tree lads that could help us out in a tight fix and eventually had the luxury of a spare machine. Knowing a good mechanic also helps a lot in the first place. Same for the truck except I didnt have a psre one of those:001_smile: If its at a busy period you dont want to piss about so best to plan ahead while you can.
  7. As another member states, work positioning is everything. I dont believe the chances of an accident increase the bigger the saw, more the opposite. It is easy to be careless and haphazard with a lighter machine. Keep both hands on the saw the right way around in the correct orientation, keep the machine to the right of your body and look at what you are doing. That will cut the chance of an injury down by at least 99%
  8. Personally I dont like tattoos so I would discriminate against someone who had them on display against someone who didnt if I was for example looking to employ someone. It does look aggressive to a lot of people and I wouldnt want it putting potential or on going customers off. Tattooist no doubt but well thats the way it is. BTW its not the same as being racist or sexist before someone starts
  9. Right OK, its just that you put it like its some kind of fact not to use while chogging down! Although dont really know why you think it is getting deformed as it always looks fine to me. In answer to the OP its a ZZ for me, a lot let messing about and is always consistent. Although that is probably because im lazy and I cba fiddling around with different knots when using a HC:laugh1:
  10. Where did you read about the last bit as it sounds like fact rather than something you have just made up?
  11. Yep I bet they have a couple of grand cut off point, over XXX they will look into things, that is when most of us are probably screwed. In all honesty though can you blame them? BTW im not defending insurance companies, they are up on my list alongside solicitors.
  12. He he, just been reading this thread, not sure if the original question had been answered so I checked it out. The OP should know the difference, "That's not a knife.....that's a file"
  13. Just pop a flag on top.
  14. A mate has a dewalt one, brilliant bit of kit. Not cheap but he swears by it.
  15. Just charge £20 an hour and sub jonny69 in. I doubt the wood will be worth more than feck all.
  16. I think people need to put some of their own personal feelings aside when it comes to business. Just because you think it is desperate etc doesn't mean everyone else thinks the same. Look at BT,british gas, scottish power etc. They make loads of money by just phoning customers out of the blue. Why not try it for say the next twenty quotes that you havent heard back from? Just get a bit of phone spiel written down first so it doesnt come out as "Why havent you called me back to sort the work out!!"
  17. I'm just too lazy to even think about chasing up quotes. I cba quoting in the first place so there is no chance of following it up. Seriously it can be worth while even if it's for market research.
  18. Lesson learned. Best to drive to the shop in future eh.
  19. Ditto. I've made some stupid costly mistakes but it's been my time and money lost. I remember them when someone else does the same with my time and money.
  20. If a tree that size in that position caused heave there would be an awful lot of us in big trouble!
  21. You've let yourself down with that mistake.
  22. So is it best to use something like a 660 or 395 for everything everyday then ? I would prefer to use something lighter, more powerful with better ergonomics and replace it more often.
  23. Loads of people don't have manners, I think someone said the same back in the olden Greek times. Today mobile phones, yesterday it was ipods, walkmans, ghetto blasters, etc. Yes they are ignorant gits no matter what.
  24. Nearly 4000 calories just from working! Jeshhh what do you eat? I have one on my phone but it is very inacurrate, if you vibrate the phone your in running mode so I don't bother with this one but yours is probably a lot more accurate if it's a dedicated device. Mark, obviously running or else they would be out of work.
