If you have a pc you may already have windows movie maker.
  2. Why? Or do you mean loose the Missus as well. Is there something you want to tell me privately:001_tt1:
  3. A smallish beech dismantle, nothing very heavy, just awkward. Excuse the soundtrack, its just what I was going round my head at the time. [ame] [/ame]
  4. Thanks to all who have said they will come so far, I think I pm'd everyone but if anyone else is interested please let me know. Just to confirm the dates are May 9-10 or if the weather is bad May 16-17, I'll keep you posted with any further developments.
  5. They are, but generally there will be a quick coupler pair for each valve so its kind of the same thing. The quick couplers are available to buy in different sizes from most ag dealers.
  6. The plot thickens. They never mentioned 80' to me, just 6m which I think we go over about 60% - 70% of the time. They didn't specify man hours so maybe we'd be ok.
  7. http://www.rogersmushrooms.com/gallery/ChooserResult.asp Try this,
  8. An old Bjerkandera adusta?
  9. There's quite a few conifer hedges that I trim regularly, having seen one with a kids den in it I noticed how easy it was to cut with a nice platform to stand on. I wondered if it would be worth carefullu cutting all the old stubs in the centre to the same height and attaching scafold boards along the length of the hedge. from then on trimming would take a quarter of the time. Problem is after you'd done it they'd get some one else in and they'd get the benefit of your hard work. I'd definately do it on my own hedge if i had one, set down so you were cutting at waist height.
  10. LOL, I'd like to see that. You can try mine at the get together if you're coming, once bitten you won't go back.
  11. You don't got a hitch climber?
  12. You can have any height, but not if you work at height all the time.
  13. What a coincidence, so have I. I thought I'd try the office posted in another thread on here and they called me back and asked a few questions, they said it was unlikely that I'd get insurance as we spend too high a percentage of our time climbing above 6m. I asked why different offices give different quotes and was told that they all work to the same system. The cheap quotes that people are getting are on a general landscaper type policy and if you spend less than 50% of your time climbing you will get cover, I said we do 65% at height and was declined. I suppose you could make up any percentage that you want and get cheap cover but I don't know how they go about checking in the event of a claim and am not interested in chancing it. If you are doing full time tree surgery work and don't do much felling or hedge work then this is probably not for you, likewise if you are a contract climber.
  14. Same here now, up untill last year it was unmanned and it wasn't abused either just a couple of 40 yard skips and a loading ramp. Now there's a couple of guys and a no vans policy, and this is at at least 3 other centres in the region so thats six salaries extra on the council tax bill or six fewer nurses. This really pisses me off, I'm putting a new bathroom suite in at the mo, I have the old suite plus loads of tiles and plaster etc to get rid of, I told the missus that they wouldn't take it at the tip anymore and she did'nt beleive me and rang them up; sure enough: if we load it all into her car and dirty it up in the process thats fine but put the same stuff in my pickup and we won't get in. Oh and I've seen a few flytipping piles lately, something I'd never seen before round here.

    Poplar removal

Very smooth Reg, you've certainly got a good eye for the placing of the slings. Do you send the client a dvd afterwards?
  16. My Dad will be selling them soon, I think a 13tonner will be just around the £1k mark though. Good machines by the looks of them, I'll post details when I can.
  17. S:001_smile:orry, sorted now.
  18. "there's a kid down our road that's only got one eye...... Teach him to look through my letterbox" The old gits. Thats you that is.
  19. What a great job, I'll definately go and see it next time I'm in London. I thought the finished job looked great, if they included too much detail it would have just looked busy and less striking. I did a sculptural "bench" for the National Trust for Scotland a couple of years ago, it was carved out of a single oak tree which I needed to fell without breaking any of the side branches off, an engineering challenge which I actually quite enjoyed. Nothing like that scale though. Well done, thats one of those "I did that" moments.
  20. Whats the gvw of that merc and where can I get one.
  21. Not to far away, my office is in Duns. Most of my work is in Edinburgh though ££££
  22. Thanks for that, I might have to make the trip over and have a closer look, things are quite busy at the mo as I'm spending all my spare time putting a new bathroom in but I'll b in touch.
  23. There will always be clients who are willing to take a chance on whoever is cheapest, and there will always be those who want a quality job. The art of sucess is finding those who will pay a little more for the real thing.
