  1. Is that the smell coming out of your pants? Nice work mate:001_smile:
  2. I think this is great, its good to know that they are making the effort. BTW the only people who aren't nervous when talking to the police are criminals:001_smile:
  3. I had amost exactly the same conversation at the weekend, let them go elsewhere, I'm am hoping that eventually I'll have a regular customer base who only ever order a ful load (3m3 for me), that way its maximum profit for minimum effort. I don't mind delivering one bags worth but I'd rather deliver five! Each year I get a few more regulars to add to my list, eventually I hope that'll be all I'll need.
  4. Looks nasty Dean, some thorns just scratch and some prick but that stuff is pure evil, got a piece dragged past me by the chipper once, made a right mess. I don't envy you.
  5. Different middleton, near Gorebridge, Midlothian.
  6. If you're after a set of cheap spikes Joe try getting hold of some of the old BT type ones. They are uncumfottable in stsndard form but they will take the pads and straps off a set of bashlin alloys (available as spare parts), with these on they're great, we have a set that Andrew uses and they're good.
  7. This is caused by climbing on two ends, I used to but I found it a major PITA like you are. Just cut 6 or 7 meters off your line and use that as a second anchor, in exaxctly the same way you do now with the other end of your rope, as your ballance improves over time you'll need it less and less.
  8. They should be fine mate, if they're dry now. Although I now sell "a bulk bags worth" rather than the bag itself, we just load em up loose and tip em off.
  9. Thats one thing a mewp would be good for, filming a real tree surgeon at work.
  10. Was going to stick this on ebay, thought I'd se if anyone on here wanted it. Any sensible offer considered.
  11. The personal service you get from RBS is good, but my changover from sole trader to limited co. has been a nightmare. its worth noting that many big plc's change banks annually to get the best deals and keep them on their toes.
  12. I can't spot the bit with the lazy grip, what time was it? Once again thanks for the comments guys.
  13. I think the rope / cord you're using plays a big part in self tending, My current setup with the Howard on Tachyon with ocean poly doesn't self tend. I think this is due to the light weight of the tachyon rather than anything else. I have now put the same setup on Andrews rope Marlowe gecko which weighs a ton so I'll keep you posted. The howard is not too bitey though, advances really easily one handed and always grips.
  14. With them both working well, how does the 341 compare with the 357 Dean?
  15. Me too, but that looks exactly like what I've seen and TBH I have seen it with in 2 foot of the ground anyway.
  16. Thats what I thought. You must be doing em wrong.
  17. I have never had an inboard step take the saw, but that doesn't mean its impossible. Has anyone else?
  18. Pleurotus cornucopiae I've seen it before...Edible
  19. Thanks mate, I keep meaning to get one but always end up buying something else instead. All we had to do with this one was deck it and walk away so no problem.
  20. I let Andrew do it, good practise for him, needed a letterbox as my biggest bar is the 28" on I was using up the tree. It was pretty fecked, even at the base.
  21. Steer clear of the terano, they eat gearboxes if used for regular heavy towing, made to feel like a car so a bit lightweight for our kind of work. My brother had one before his navara, it was on its third gearbox when he sold it.
  22. Both those limbs were seriously long, a gob cut would have hit the floor before it broke off, unless the gob was so narrow it might as well have been a step cut. The only safe way to do them would have been to go out and break them down, but like I said, Im lazy. You'll never get an inboard stepcut take the saw. They can split though.
  23. You're right mate, I think that was the last cut before I came down for lunch, came back up with the 385... still had one split with that though. It was laziness tbh I should have gone out and taken some weight off the two that split. There were some big ones though, buried the 28"bar on the 385 a couple of times.
