  1. I got this flyer through from my accountants the other day, very good advice imo. Its a real shame so many people in this business just don't get it.
  2. Crocodile dundee has good memories for me as it was the first 15 rated film that my dad took me to see, I was 13 at the time.... he got stopped for speeding on the way home..
  3. Is that the crane / trailer setup that Jas wilson does? Looks good:thumbup:
  4. Great spring day, no client on site, no neighbours, no "can you just" . Just playing with my toys. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  5. Had this nearly 20 years..... whopping 21"......quality. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  6. Congratulations, my daughter turned 1 last week, the year has flown by. Thet just get better and better too.
  7. No ones mentioned "the long good Friday" or "big Wednesday" ..way better surf movie than point break.
  8. 10ph is a wage, ie where you work for someone else who pays for your tools, ppe etc, he will charge the client more obviously. If you are self employed you want at least 20ph. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  9. I don't beleive that the chassis on defenders are being built any different now than in 1995, its clear that a ladder frame chassis is tougher than a monocoque sp?. why do all hgv's mogs etc have a ladder chassis. A badly fitted attachment could cause a chassis to break up especially if it prevents the correct amount of flex at a particular point. Thi argument has been done to death on here many times before, but it is worth noting that landrovers do come in for way more than their fare share of physical abuse due to the fact it is so easy to adapt them to particular tasks. Wether its tippers, cherry pickers, oversize toolboxes or even just the addition of a winch, there will be more landys out there with the above than any other make. Because of this they tend to be used by people who want them for more than just the school run, which subjects tham to more abuse than perhaps the average hilux or l200.
  10. You have to ask yourself, given the fact that most other equivalent 4X4's are cheaper than a defender and give so much more in terms of standard specification, why have they bought landys? If it is because they are going to be worked so hard that other makes wouldn't have been suitable, then perhaps its to be expected that they have had more problems than usual. I honestly think that 10 years ago there would have been no question that the jap stuff would have been better. Now they have let things slip by hairdresserizing all their trucks while landy have improved little. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  11. Yes and IME its the best thing about it. LR even got rid of the stupid dual mass fly wheel. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  12. What known problems? Mine has been fine, a few minor niggles but nothing serious. I have not heard anything bad from any other owners either. I can only comment on vehicles that i have owned or known well, ie family or friends. If everyone stuck to this simple rule discussions like this would be a lot more constructive. 13. there used to be ones for washing lines...all set up in its own casing ready to go.
  14. I have two of them, no probs with either, I hope I'm not going to get any.... these saws replaced my 357 which often had carb trouble.... Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  15. I use a 3m wirecore instead, that is less annoying than a rope as its stiffness helps keep it from tangling. Plus the snaphook gets caught a lot less than a krab and knot. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  16. I've had two off him, both were excellent, they do tart them up with paint jobs though so its worth checking wether mechanical stuff has been done. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  17. Not pine, its poplar. The split log looks just like pop. edit.......Durr! Why didn't I think of this before... pine and pop both have very distinctive smells... give it a sniff...... I can smell its pop from here. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapat
  18. I've had mine stuck a few times (old type), as others have said leaving it slack and picking your fork carefully, as well as planning your exit are all important. But why does it always get stuck at the worst possible time in the worst place. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  19. Ok, I take it you're too far away to help though? Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  20. South east Scotland. I thought 33 was large trees? Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  21. We would like to put two employees through the above qualification, we have several large trees to fell and a winch available on site. Please pm me if available.
  22. in terms of brand new, just the landcruiser V8 (not the regular one) and the defender, disco and rangerover. the new nissans are 2.8 ton.
  23. Just check it over, brake binding? Or a problem with the tracking, ball joints etc. A good look round ought to show something. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  24. Unbelievable, cutting up a tree that size could be well dangerous for an amateur. I knew a guy who was collecting free timber from a tree like that, it rolled on him and crushed his pelvis, he was off work for months.
  25. Yes on the front of a u1750, the chipper is awesome, but the pto version is wider than the road tow, the infeed would be a good 6' wide. It was great for most things but I'd say you'd need at least 120 horse to really enjoy it. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
