  1. A couple of years ago I was seriously consedering buying a processor and buying in wood to do maybe 500 ton per year. I am soooo glad I didn't, the price of the raw material seems to have gone throught the roof yet the price of the finished product remains the same.

    Cone Signs

What signs don't though... I suppose it will depend on the quality / weight of the cones.
  3. There are often threads on here asking "which harness", I think that if your survey takes into account the height and weight then that will be a very good thing. a good saddle for a 190lb guy will probably not suit a 140lb guy. Ideally once completed climbers could put in their height and weight and see what harnesses others of their build rated highly.

    Cone Signs

Any one use them, I am thinking of buying a set but I want to know how robust / reliable they are. Thanks Tom
  5. Very Nice mate, Impressive controll and ballence.
  6. Its blocking the sun from your new swimming pool?
  7. [quote=skyhuck; I'm busy getting my new 33"X18" swimming pool finished : Won't that be a little tight with the 6 of you in it? Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  8. Price fixing is illegal across the world, christies and sotherbys the auctioneers were fined for fixing pices and big corporations accross the world are forbidden from matching prices with one another. Yet.................... OPEC are a cartel who's sole purpose is to fix the oil price. The price of all other comodities; iron ore, gold, grain, pork bellies are all free to float on the international markets, yet oil is fixed by opec's strangle hold on production. if they want the price to go up they hold back production, if they want the price to go down they could increase production. Its that simple.
  9. Andrew cleaning a snow damaged cedar, and Deni working up a sweat dismantling a Syc pollard. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  10. Very nice josh.. very nice indeed. looking forward to part 2
  11. We have to run ours all year as we don't have any other means of cooking. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  12. The reason the "bigger boys" are more expensive is that they know what they are doing! Let that be a guide to you, no reason to learn the hard way, learn from them and price accordingly. Put some pics up if you want us bigger boys to help out. Lol Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  13. After one try with the pinto I am inclined to agree. I'll give it a bit longer though just to make sure its not me. I found that it doesn't feed slack as well as the hc and also, when there is slack in the setup it flops around making it harder to find the tail to pull, this could be me not being used to it though. I can always use the pinto as a floating anchor if I go back to the hc. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  14. It does take a long time to bed in, even an old price re tied takes a while. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  15. This one is a 28, how did yours go with the shackle? Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  16. I have been using the hitchclimber and sling for 3 years, it is so simple. The anchor bridge seems to me to be over complicating what should be fairly simple. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  17. I bought my first chipper with a loan from the princes trust..... I like the royals, they do far more for us than we realise. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  18. Sitback is minimal, it was not self tending today but it has only had 2 hours climbing on it and I was messing about with different lengths of leg. It's pretty loose and I think it would self tend given a bit more bedding in. A bigger ring would loosen it up further I reckon. What the ring does that I like is: as slack is tended, the ring goes from vertical to horizontal, and pushes evenly on the wraps of the hitch. It works well, I will keep using it over the next few weeks and post any other thoughts. Sent f rom my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  19. This is something I was playing around with on today's job, it was my first go with the pinto and inspired by drew b's setup I tried this. Unlike Drew's version my ring replaces the bottom half of the hitch as both legs and the rope pass through the eye. After only one climb I like the hitch, not sure if the pinto is better than the HC though, I need to try the pinto with a regular hitch and try the ring hitch on the HC. The tails on the fishermans are long because I was experimenting with different lengths. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  20. Agreed, I saw a pic in the paper the other day....nice. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  21. Just finished my ash dismantle, was the wedding good? I wasn't dissing the royals in my earlier post, I'm just not that bothered about dresses and flowers. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  22. I'll be dismantling an ash..
  23. I bet its the drilled (cavity) on the hydraulic valve on the feed roller system that allows the rollers to reverse slightly when the load sensor kicks in. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
  24. I think that cranes do have a big place in tree work, despite the fact that I have never used one. I will try and buy a 22 m+ hiab this year for dismantling jobs, I think Reg is right in that making a 2 day job 1 day or 1 day into a half day is the way to go. This job however is not a crane job..i would have put the winch on the butt, cut it off and ripped it out. Then a quick tidy up of the standing tree. It was a cheap job after all. 25. Re the last bit Reg, are we likely to see crane dismantling stopped somehow? Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
