  1. so really what your all saying is DONT buy a land rover? buy jap? only prob is insuring a jap 4x4 is costing in about 2k where as a defender is about 800 - 1k disco is costing about 2k as well and a freelander is about 3k. i would be using it for homers when i start doing them, a bit of off roading here and there and it would be my daily run about You guys have really put me off getting a land rover now. might just wait til im 25 and my insuance has come down and i can afford to insure pretty much anything.
  2. dean why not throw yourself out a plane? i would like to try parachuting but not got the bottle. what about bungy jumping? would like to try that but same as above not got the bottle
  3. hey all, looking for some advise, im looking to buy my first land rover its going to be a defender because thats about the only thing i can insure thats not going to break the bank, so im looking for things to looking out for an things to stay away from. im hoping to have a budget of about 3k. Also looking for advise on insuring it as well. e.g. which companies to try? whats the difference between commerical and normal insurance. its going to be my daily run about. cheers i look forward to seeing what yous come up with. 4. my dad and his partner fostered a family of 4 a few years ago, they didnt have a smooth time of it with the council but i think that was because they have both worked in social work/care for years and thier veiws were different from the councils but when things were going well everything was good and the kids were gettin a good deal. The hardest part of it is keeping time for yourselfs seperate due to your home life becoming work as well. but to make a difference to someones like is always rewarding
  5. good job, always wanted to build stuff like that but never had the patience

cheers guys im guessing from what you have all said its pretty much common sence.
  18. i know what u mean, but what i meant was that at college if u didnt have enuff common sence they would just kick you off the course, thats what they dont at your college if your deemed unsafe then you were out. i know some people want to sit about and let everyone else to do the work and take credit but the thing ive noticed in this industry is if you do that then you aint gonna get anywhere due to it being such a small an industry it just doesnt make sence why u would mess companies about
  19. fined for high levels of sawdust i dunno what to say to that other than i dont think ive ever heard anything so stupid
  20. am i right in saying you said this guy went to college and done a course? or was that the other guy? if this guy went to college and done the course how did he manage to pass since colleges are so H&S? if not hes a muppet with no common sence. as for the other dude if he done a course at college he should have been more H&S since again the main thing the college bang in to your head is H&S towards yourself and your work mates. i cant get my head round they the other dude never said anything to him.
  21. sorry to change the topic but what are ford rangers like? ive not really seen that many for sale but was wondering what theyre like for rusting and the electrics. as i have a ford ka in my front garden which myself and my fincee are in the process of doing up due to rust and i think theres a prob with the electric and a few other people i know have had problems with ford electrics as well. anyone got 1 or had one or know anyone with one?

  23. and rovers are a heap although i drive one but i want to get rid of it soon
  24. looks like a good idea ed.sounds like youve put a lot of thought into it. see for the twigs, leaves and needles woulkd you be able to intergrate (dunno if that the right word) like the paper brick idea into it. so that all the twigs leaves and what not get compacted together to produce bricks for burning? if that doesnt make sence let me know and ill re type it.
  25. nah they never got back to me, actually they never got back to me twice after 2 interviews.
