  1. Bit like those geezers on the spiderjackery video. ...maybe:) Adam
  2. The biomass generator at Slough heat and power apparently takes 500tonnes a day. That's a lot of chip running up and down the country in big diesel munching trucks. Mmmm? Adam
  3. I posted this picture a couple of years back and I was thinking of it when I was watching this, last night... just couldn't think where to find it. Thank you. BBC iPlayer - Nature's Microworlds: Canada's Coastal Forests
  4. There you go... BBC iPlayer - Nature's Microworlds: Canada's Coastal Forests I'm gonna watch after my son's open evening and a chinese meal for him as a treat.
  5. Here it is. .. Hopefully this has linked. Its the 1st item. 2nd item is a chainsaw Adam
  6. Did anyone see how it's made on quest last night when they made 5 wooden bowls from one block of wood. really efficient! Adam
  7. I have one (5m) its great to be in it. 10 mins to put up. .. but about 45 to put down as you need to ensure its perfectly dry. Get one with the zippered built in ground sheet. It seals the tent better and also allows the sides to be raised to allow a flow of air through in the summer Adam
  8. It's good experience though and of course that will make you a better person at what you do which in turn leads you to making more money. You can also see the screw ups that the boss makes in pricing and damage etc. without it coming out of your pocket. It would be good to do a job or two of your own to quite easily double your dosh in a week!
  9. Iron Man 1 Kickass. Loads of Cohen bros films.
  10. The Fighter.. proper good film. Christian Bale seriously goes up in my estimation.. in this film anyway.
  11. From the Guardian today In the autumn of 1993, Greg LeMond and his wife, Kathy, were sitting at home in the suburbs of Minneapolis, when they received a visit from Linda Mooneyham, the three-times Tour de France winner has recalled. Her 21-year-old son, Lance Armstrong, had just become the world champion and she had travelled from her home in Texas for advice. "What does he do now?" she asked. "What does he do with his money?" "Well, let him find an agent – a good one with an attorney," LeMond replied. "And one word of advice – just be his mom." They sat on the porch for a while and then moved inside to the kitchen. Linda had something else on her mind: "How do I make him less of an asshole. He doesn't care about anyone." "Well," LeMond replied. "I can't help you there."
  12. Poplars. ... how to quote them. .. Think of the biggest number you can think of then triple it. You know there going to be a beeatch. Unless you can crane them;) Adam
  13. Depends how much you pay your crew for 8 days it could be 3.5-4k, breakages likely (green houses), still have to cut it into man size pieces (time/sawdust) chains to file= time, all that saw dust to clear up (1-2 days). lifting all that timber to walk out 40m+ over walls from neighbours and then into trucks, driving to the tip (time), paying(?) to get rid of it. And of course demoralising for the crew to be on one tree for 8 days, but really exciting for every one to be on it one day (pay them a bonus for doing it in one day) It would probably work out the same costs, just one way would be loads easier. Then you could go and earn some more money elsewhere... so in fact more profitable by the crane route.
  14. Full contract services as nick says and maybe a mobile tower crane (1500-2000). I think it would ok for the branches, if you could deck the stem then lift from there, but whats the point, eh! Also ask how much road closures are (could be up to £2000), you'll also want to price in a couple of bins (6-700) to take it away Have you got an arb trolley? are those loads of green houses below? You could always price it like you don't want it. £8000 + road closure/ one day should just about cover it. You could always price it like you don't want it.
  15. Snow just started in West London. 2 hours before it was predicted Adam
  16. That's the first one that's made me laugh:) Adam
  17. Who's Chipper is this, City surburban? as mentioned in Silky thread? Vauxhall helicopter crash leaves two dead: latest news from London | UK news | guardian.co.uk
  18. The main problem is your going to have to read the instructions, they never seem that intuitive. So go for the free one that comes with your computer package
