  1. I had a mink hung onto my finger for about 10 minutes once, right through to the bone. Little git let go when I bit it back though I thought it was a good idea to pick it up same as I picked my ferrets up......... it wasn't !

  3. ...and boy does he lunch !!! He shared his lunch with us on the way down to the show and he still had some left on the way back up !! His lunch box is massive (no pun intended ) he packs everything from a sarnie to a strawberry, awsome

  5. Best bet is buy a long length and tie in a fishermans on one end the one where you think you might need the other, dont cut the length off the tie your hitch and keep adjusting till it's right. Mark it, then undo it and measure

  8. I have got one but it is badged under a different name, same winch though. I've used it loads for winching out conifers and roots and it has been brilliant no probs at all. Give it to a Heavy handed Scottish feller and the story may be different They have shear pins in the handle so should be safe, but I have never taken it past the need for the shear pin to break, I know when I'm putting too much strain on, so I stick a snatch block in the equation

  10. Not neccessarily... the charging amps are far lower than the cranking amps, you can get charging amps through a partial connection. Bad connections may allow a small current but not a stonking big one, especailly if its an intermittant fault. I think he has replaced the batteries for new as well which dis-counts the batts

  12. I was not paid out, because the insurance company found an excuse not to.. Our industry is relatively small in the claiming onb insurance department so you wont hear a lot about non payment of claims, but I'm sure if this were a driving forum you would have thousands of examples of insurance companies worming their way out odf paying a claim
  13. Front axle Nigel, it's always got weight over it unlike the back end, plus you can always reverse out of trouble. I lifted the back end off the floor the other day pulling a stump
  14. You have got the jist Mike.. Charge the battery up which isn't charging, fit it back on the vehicle then disconnect the good batteries earth so in effect you are only using the bad battery... crank the motor over on that battery only. It will, if there's a fault in the circuit either not crank at all or crank over slowly, it may if even heat up where the fault is and reveal where in the circuit it is. If it cranks over fine, then your guess is as good as mine mate
  15. Correct! Sending power to both the front and rear axles in equal measure
  16. I think that saw has a plastic ring which the dogs on the starter recoil dig into to turn the flywheel. I still have a spare plastic ring for one in my spares box
  17. All the centre diff does is send 50% torque to the front axle and 50% to the rear
  18. Permanent 4 wheel drive means distributing drive torque evenly to all four wheels via diffs, lift one wheel and that torque is lost. ( 1wd ) Put in the centre diff lock and you have to lift two wheels to lose traction ( 2WD ) Put in a rear diff lock and you need to lift 3 wheels to lose traction (3wd ) Put in a front diff lock as well and you have to lift all four wheels to lose traction ( true 4 wd )

  20. Only thing to watch for there is that whoever does the job understands bearings and how to fit them correctly to avoid constant lateral loading, which is easy done on the timberwolfs if not fitted correctly
