  1. Is that a builders "1 ton " bag which holds about .8 of a cube?
  2. Here the sort of thing I have used. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dn0CUbRcFqA&feature=youtube_gdata_player
  3. I have used a similar system for a portable high seat and to be honest it's not bad. It's two squares, one you sit on and the other goes on your feet. Only used on straight timber with no limbs unless you cut them off as you go!
  4. There's a screw splitter on the Hakkie and I hate it! Not happy when it grabs a log and spins it at high speed. Tried it again at the weekend and it nearly broke my thumb! I will stick to the one we made.
  5. Try this: log_Chop.pdf
  6. Nice one Tony! A PDF is a portable document file, it's from Adobe. It's very good but to write on it you have to buy their software and it's expensive! to read a PDF you just need adobe reader which is free and the number one link on google world wide for the keyword: click here.
  7. Lomo sailing gloves, both winter and summer ones are very good.
  8. I like these, not everyones taste but they are all steel and hand made in Britain. http://www.stevedowling.co.uk/dowlingstoves/id82.html
  9. Thanks! was thinking down those lines, not sure its worth the effort as some of the coupes are Hazel! It will probably cost me more in labour! Certainly out of my comfort zone pricing this.
  10. The outlet from the burner should be 6", the twin walled flue 8" should be used either externally or going through cavities etc. By fitting direct to the burner you have lost lots of radiant heat! If you fit twin wall from the roof up you get a reducing section to fit over the stove pipe which is the sealed with fire putty. You should then put in a register plate/heat wall where the flue goes through the roof with a cowl on the top surface with a top hat on top of the flue. You should have a vent through the external wall behind the fire which can not be closed to comply with building regs.
  11. Where did you run the twin flue from, presumably just before the roof. An 8" pipe would look silly from the stove and you would loose a lot of radiant heat from the stove pipe. That is a good find because that stuff is expensive!
  12. Hi, can anyone give me a rough idea of the price of standing timber. I am assuming good access etc. Hard and soft wood prices please. It obviously costs me money to harvest and I would be doing it manually and not with a harvester etc. What should I be paying?
  13. Fill it with run flat, no more punctures!
  14. Take a look at this; http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/tree-health-care/34060-what-do-you-think.html
  15. Make sure your rigging kit is evenly matched. You have gone for a 14mm rope, 16mm pulley and 16mm dead eye sling. You should go for a 19mm dead eye. Make sure your rope is the weakest link in the system!
  16. Steve, is there a way of advertising in both for one cost or would you advertise in the arb section and mention firewood?
  17. As said on bigger stems speed, open slide down choke off drop piece.
