  1. If it has no shear pins how is the system protected from overloading? Do Tirfor make them without shear pins!
  2. Fiddle block works well.
  3. Not to sure what you mean but a Tirfor should only ever be used to pull. It's not rated to lift!
  4. Make sure you get a system that's rated in the same vain as all your rigging gear, and remember your spare shear pins!
  5. You can get a winch for any truck, you could even get a quick release mount and it could then be mounted front or rear! Have you thought about using a fiddle block? Very light, very effective. http://www.buxtons.net/loler-uk-fiddle-block-kit.ir?cName=arborist-set-deals-rigging-kits
  6. Are we talking mounted on landrover? Tirfor will get more places but you will have to carry it!
  7. If I have taken of the rest of the crown I would climb back up to my tip which would either be chocked of with an alpine butterfly or through a crotch and tied of at the base of the stem. If its chocked I lanyard in and simply slide down the butterfly to a suitable position whilst I start to chog down. I don't worry about the length of the tail as I don't have to drag it around the crown. If it's tied of at the base I lanyard in then get the groundie to untie and I re- tie with a butterfly leaving just enough tail to reach the ground +2m. I would not use a krab through the butterfly and into the tail. It saves a couple of minutes pulling the tail through bug I think it would cross load,
  8. Tiriol fighters.
  9. Not had a problem with mine milking.
  10. A looooong time!
  11. As mentioned choke off below flip line. Use the unicender as normal on the choked line.
  12. Do you climb on a VT style hitch now? Do you like the hitch? If you do and also like the benefits of SRT then this is for you! As said the RW just takes some of the friction of the hitch by putting a bend in the rope with one end and having a tether to the hitch climber on the other. If you don't want to buy before you try make one, Kev used to make them out of wood.
  13. What are you going to do with the boards?
  14. He now says me unicender is old school!
  15. Mark, I recognise them! Spot on!
  16. Surely stockings and suspenders?
  17. Mill it green then air dry? What would you suggest for legs?
  18. Matty, did you get Pete to port a saw for you?
  19. I am going to try the RW as I am intrigued! I just hope it doesn't take ages to find the hitch and cord combination!
  20. I think Tachyon would be good but I use a static line with my Unicender. Under a fall condition I believe you would have slight movement of the unicender.
  21. 3X2 foot is a big bowl! I will have a look at the arbotech disc. Did they get banned here in the UK?
  22. Dinosaur hedgehog!
  23. Plasma, Amsteel,Dynaline, lots of good winch lines, don't use for rigging though unless it's a speedline!
  24. I have seen a large Ash Burr in one of my woods. It's about 3ft X 2ft on the side of a little ash. It is about 25ft in the air. I fancy making something out of it but what and how? Not got a lathe so woodturning is out, Any ideas?
  25. Nice one Baggy! Did you use your new tools that you showed me?
