  1. Ian, when your frog walking try smaller steps, it may make your ascent smoother or you might not like it!
  2. Read the whole thread, lots in here about lock and spiderjack.
  3. My must have is the ART positioner with a looooong lanyard. Used in conjunction with my Treemotion lower D's it is often used as a second anchor point and can be released or adjusted under load. Also the ART rope guide and Spiderjack, in fact anything ART!
  4. I don't want to use the HC. Having used the unicender for a good while I like the uncluttered simple set up. I loved the SJ in Ddrt. I think I probably could use the SJ with the RW but I would have to work out how to use it without the HC. Perhaps if i took the Velcro off and modified it to accept the tether? I use Marlowe static for SRT.
  5. The Lj makes for a neater package as you dont need a HC and can tie the RW directly into the LJ. Its my next buy, I already have a SJ that doesnt get used! Love the unicender!!
  6. That sounds like a landrover recovery ground winch. I have used one of them to pull a DAF out of a ditch very very good!
  7. Ah, see what you mean, it is über strong though!
  8. Drew, if anything hit the I'd handle it would go into panic mode and lock off. I suppose the hub/fig 8 idea of belaying is the same but it means having to buy another shiny bit of kit!
  9. Whatever you place at the base as a fail safe will have to be tended. I have used the Petzl I'd which has a panic function so even a novice can use it without sending a casualty into free fall! By using just the fig 8 maybe the rescuer could tie into the tail with a munter hitch which would allow him to move out to the drip line but would allow him to belay the casualty?

I think this saw comes in .325 as standard and I see a few have changed to 3/8, what's the advantage and cost of conversion,
  11. Mathew, what purpose does the HC have apart from an extra attachment point for your krabs? Why don't you just just girth hitch the fig 8 to the hitch? The only problem with having a back up hitch to the line is you can't leave the hitch to assist the casualty you are lowering that may be inverted or unconscious. Thanks to softhawksbanks for reminding me why I don't do it!
  12. If they were metal I would bolt it onto the shank. Mine are carbon fibre!
  13. Thanks to Tony and DI for sending me spare Velcro straps for my saw pod! Excellent service for an excellent product!
  14. It's just the same only wet! Use the hand ascender and pantin like mentioned.
  15. Paul, did you splice the OP? How does a casualty get lowered in pic 4&5? You got too much time on your hands!
  16. Speak to this man, he's near you and very very good! Took him climbing with his brother in law before softhawksbanks went to Japan! http://www.woodhousewood.org/english/index.htm
