  1. If you put an alpine butterfly in from the ground put the working end through the butterfly and pull into the crotch. This use an extra length of line though. To retrieve pull on the other side. Do you really want to climb to the TIP before you come down!? For really long limb walks you can install a hand ascender with a revolver, clip the tail in and when you walk back on pull the tail like a rads system.
  2. Traditionally the HS would be used on Red and Boar, or when another stalker had tried a dog and failed. The HS would be expected to find the beast up to 2 days after it was shot or hit by a car. There often is no blood so they follow foot scent and ignore all other game and fresh tracks. The Germans doe not like to use them on Roe as they think they don't go far enough. In the Hirshman journal last year a HS tracked a Red after 24 hours 15 mile! I intend to use him on Red, Fallow, Roe, Muntjac and the odd Sika. We use our dogs totaly different to how they do on the continent remarkable dogs.
  3. It's your preference! Do you mean ascend with spikes on or ascend whilst spiking the tree? As been said lanyard over shoulder, use a pantin no problem.
  4. Ascending on spikes no different. Dismantles no different, more often than not it's secured close to the base and not or ideally should not be redirected out to the drip line if you can avoid it.
  5. SJ is good as is the LJ. You have 2 options choke off at the base which is excellent for rescue or choke of at the top. You will use way more line and rescue is harder!
  6. He's a Hanoverian Scent hound. Very old breed. The forefather to the Bavarian.
  7. I think they do square one for those with OCD!
  8. The tubs I use will not split! They are ultra durable and I reckon they will last a life time! http://www.containerama.com/index.php?target=products&product_id=147
  9. I use the recycled tyre tubs with a nylon lid that fits on the top to keep the rain out. Ropes in one, rigging and climbing, rigging gear in another and a small rucksack for harness, flip line and all climbing accessories which I now don't use because I'm on SRT! Nice and simples, you can leave the tubs at the base of the tree and if anything hits it no problem it won't brake unlike the cheaper ones! Well worth the extra money!
  10. Very good! A couple of extra turns would have been a challenge?
  11. Nice home made slides in pic 4, where did you get it and how much?
  12. Sadly not When I lent my SJ to Paul he was on another site, he tried all ART pruducts with the Wrench and he finds the LJ the neatest set up and you dont need a hitch climber. I am going to get a LJ soon and I will take pics.
  13. You using them together? It's very nice but I think the LJ is a neater package with the RW.
  14. Can you explain? The straps are supposed to go around the shank. Do you mean double wrap?
  15. Can't be done Will. Just the same ad you wouldn't be able to descend on a VT or other hitch. I am going to use a LJ with a rope wrench though. It's cool, compact and efficient! I will hang on to my SJ though,
  16. I use my positioner on my long lanyard and I wouldn't be without it! My line is about 10m but I can get plenty of good secondary anchor points with it. Great bit of kit.
  17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0b_ddKA_Xxk&sns=em
  18. Carbon Gekos with the velcro pad and strap bottom, very comfy!
  19. Pour the meat and veg(layer for presentation) into your Turin then cover with the liquid Gelatine, allow to cool, enjoy!
  20. Any device that lessen friction is a plus! A normal CS is fine but a RG is better!!
