  1. I’m not rising to the bait! It’s good that we’re raising the subject of risk and risk assessments. We are required to assess the level of risk to ourselves and employees by law. I was recently disciplined by my employer because there was an insufficient paper trail relating to a particular job. I for one will be completing method statements, generic and site-specific as well as risk assessments.
  2. Post number 4 (and I didn't even read post number 3!)
  3. We're all fit and active guys here so I don’t see that becoming a problem. If the MEWP cuts down on strains, back-pain and risk then its money well spent, IMO.
  4. Stunning! I’m going to give-up tree surgery and become a photographer.
  5. Thanks, Go for it! Your along time dead. Get yourself off to college as well, do a basic photography course and a basic editing course such as Adobe Photoshop. It’ll be well worth it..
  6. What ever you buy if you get a Nicon you wont go wrong. I took this the first week I bought mine, and its still one of my best. Remember its the eye behind the camera thats just as important!
  7. The camera body is the most important component, spend as much as you can, you can always buy the other stuff later.... Jessops will price match so you should be able to screw a good deal out of them.
  8. Excellent camera mate....can you stretch to a D60 ? I only say that because I bought a D80 and wish I spent a little more and bought a D200.
  9. Are you ok for the 27th dude ?

  10. What colour are they supposed to be ? Cool spelling for a professional...hehe
  11. Not many pictures on the new picture forum! This is my contribution......Spot the mistake.
  12. Nope, that MEWP would have only reached half way up. The decision to buy the MEWP wasn't mine, (I'll climb all day) Its part of the councils on-going review of H&S and its desire to minimise risk.
  13. Come on now Ed, your making me blush. Maybe I was just stupid (or your just taking the pi55)
  14. Just goes to prove what we all thought....Your a true God, walking amongst us mortals.
  15. I climbed these and de-limbed them without a crane (and I knew it was hollow!) John 'Big-Balls' Hancock.
  16. I can beat that Sanny....
  17. Bless you, bless all the moderators; and may your phones never stop ringing in 2009.
  18. Have you never heard of the ‘white dog’ and the ‘black dog’? Basically, if I do a good deed (like donate money or walk an old lady across the road) the ‘white-dog’ gets fed. If I do something bad, the ‘black-dog’ gets fed and grows BIGGER. I have beside me a dirty great rottweiler that’s just eaten my little white poodle!
  19. By reading your post it sounds obvious that a risk assessment wasn’t completed, which is all well and good as long as something doesn’t go wrong. If there was an accident your employer would be in up to his neck! (excuse the pun) A risk assessment would have identified all the risks involved (water, chainsaws, slips, trips and falls etc..) and the necessary control measures to put in place, i.e. the requirement of life jackets to be on site, the correct type of PPE to be worn etc.. Did you hold a site meeting before hand and discuss working methods? Was one singular person put in charge and given responsibility for the job? There are all questions the HSE would be asking you and your employer should anything have gone wrong. In future look at a job, assess the safety and control measures and if your not happy, don’t do it! It’s also worth noting that it its blocking a water course you can call the environment agency….they will remove it for free
  20. Mine went in at the weekend...Feeding the white dog makes you feel really good!
  21. I wouldn't take any chances, I got stung 18 times once...not nice! Protected species aren’t they ?
  22. John Hancock

    Darts?

Nope, I grew out of it when I turned 11.
  23. Poor little' buggers! I had a nasty Ash reduction (no leader, rotten limbs and a bees nest) I must have tried every bee keeper in the midlands, but no-one would 'fumigate' them. In the end we had to pay a keeper to plug the nest with wax, and the un-plug it afterwards! Cost £100.
