  1. May God bless him. So sad.
  2. Hello again Get a Land Rover dude! Don’t become a ‘yes’ man and allow yourself to be bullied by this lot……You know you want one - be your own man, go-on; give into temptation – get the best 4x4xfar !
  3. There are few things that would get you sacked from the L/A but ‘horse-play’ is one of them. Personally I would have fired the instigator straight away, no if’s, no but’s. Fired. It would be interesting if the Boss was there on site, condoning what was going-on. If the boss wasn’t, then I’m sure it’ll get back to him after being on You-Tube. I don’t mind the lads having a bit of fun (I’m the first to join in) as long as people are not going to get hurt.
  4. Tell me if I’m out of place here but wasn’t that a bl**dy stupid thing to do ? I know it looks funny on you-tube but imagine what could have gone wrong…. Maybe its my age, maybe I’ve been subjected to H&S too much but if I drove round the corner to check on my lads and they were doing that I would have hit the ******* roof! Feel free to put me in my place and call me a boring old fart, I wont be offended.
  5. mine was a Mini Cooper, bored out to 1380cc.....went like buggery!
  6. I was waiting to see your little fella bro, how old is he?? Its great seeing them enjoying climbing trees, I never did as a child.....too dam dangerous!
  7. I thought I had until I explained to Josh the complexities risk assessments, method statements and regular LOLER inspections! Check out his face ‘Get me down from here!’
  8. He likes the Stihl, although daddy thinks the on/off switch is cr#p on these models. Check this pic out......he was saying 'I want to chop daddys’ leg off' as it was taken!
  9. Little Arbs.... I apologise for posting this, but just couldn’t help myself! I was sorting through the garage and found this helmet which I had for ages…..guess who wanted to wear it?! There must me more proud dads out there with similar pics……
  10. I’ve found the Picus useful for the following reason… All of our parks and even the cemeteries have ‘friends’ groups and although they are very useful in some respects, can prove challenging from time to time. I’ve found the Picus very useful as the Tomograph can be added to the written tree report and presented in a form that most people can understand. We have removed trees in the past and come under a lot of ‘post-felling criticism’ from the local press; this is mainly due to a lack of information and a poor understanding from the general public. A Picus or to a lesser extent, a Resistograph can help alleviate that. I should note however that in every case the Picus was used, I already knew or had a ‘gut-feeling’ what the result was going to be.(I guess this comes with experience, an enthusiasm for examining slabbed-up sections of wood and a knowledge of fungi). The cross section pictured is not an accurate representation of the decay as this section was a good 1.5 feet from ground level. So in summery, Picus – An excellent bit of kit that can be used to produce a comprehensive, colourful tree report that can be understood by a wide variety of people, (but don’t rely on the Tomograph alone).
  11. Thats just what I thought. :confused1:
  12. If we get one more chap who appreciates Land Rovers to become a member it’ll be the largest group in Arbtalk, (and larger than the North West Arbs)
  13. Quote from Dean… ‘John, I have a mate who's the spitting image of you, the only difference is he's a multi millionaire I'll try get a photo of him, it's uncanny’ Has he got a pretty wife ?? Quote from Andy..‘if you need a hand in the future in exchange for a little firewood, call me’. Ok mate, It’ll be nice to have some company down there!
  14. I did a days work for free mate. Not going to make a habbit of it though!
  15. ……mine are buggered! They ‘click’ constantly when walking up hills or stairs, not much pain but they don’t sound right! I’ve been cycling regularly since I was a teenager so I guess they’re worn out….
  16. I have a metal, lockable bubby-box that I bought for my series 3 (it’s the sort that has a radio fitting inside) Never bothered fitting it, so if anyone wants it…..? I’ll get some pics sorted tomorrow.
  17. Cheers Stockers. That’s a lovely Lightweight above you! Always fancied a diesel version of one of those but not many around now. You don’t even have to own a Landy to join the group. (Just a hatred of bright chrome, reliability and things from the far-east)
  18. …..Just the stuff growing on my chin my good man! I’m thinking of maybe buying a macro lens for the Nikon, (so the might some nice photos coming if I do find any.)
  19. 31 members now, in not much more than a week! Not bad eh ?? Guess there are a lot of Arbs out there who appreciate a quality 4x4.!
  20. ........You'll find a Hancock! This was the first time I've been down the woods for almost three years. I normally spend a little time down here, post Christmas as it helps blow the cobwebs away. It’s a nice little wood, made up of mainly Oak and Ash. The Ash hasn’t been coppiced for nearly 25 years so its well over-due for a little work. The woodland has been planted over some ridge and furrow and has been suffering from poor drainage, particularly in the furrows; this has resulted in many of the Oaks becoming stressed. (A great many have died due to Honey fungus). The logs go for sale at the local farm shop. Still, a good mornings work and enjoyed it immensely!
  21. Def’ go to the police, when you have a moment sit down and log all the incidents as I to think they could be related, then take it all the the Old-Bill. I wouldn’t give-up, maybe consider relocation but don’t give-up; the w- - k- rs have won then.
  22. Hiya Cutter, Acorns are fairly close to be...but I never see them around! Must be too busy lol. It's my dream to own my own woodland one day, better keep saving!
