  1. I've rescued several cats and the calls come at dusk so the light is fading and the time is tight. I think its a business transaction and b***** the good will. If the fire and rescue and the RSPCA will not get the cat down then you have to be paid. £ 40 for the last one. If its a friend or neighbour then plenty of ale will do.
  2. take it easy john, i did a non NPTC loler course whoch is fully valid and I was curious as to where your form spec came from.
  3. you mean , that certain "G'day palm slayers":scared1: P.S. ( long story ,don't ask if you want a short answer)
  4. LOL, there are already, and they all are wannabe arbo's.
  5. Is that a NPTC approved form? That sheet colourful it is , following a discussion with a friend it is not suitable for AA approved contractors . It does not show the qualifications of the inspector, who they are etc. It also does not show CE or EN approval numbers. I put the place of inspection on my record sheets too.
  6. chuck it in with the logs, people can use it to light their fires.
  7. every landrover owner needs one , to chop out bits of rusty chassis of course.
  8. how much weight do you need? [ame=http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=fL9UL_GLe6I&feature=related]http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=fL9UL_GLe6I&feature=related[/ame] search debardage on you tube for crazy french skidder driving competiotions and the like.
  9. was this you ? thankfully no. It was a dumb and fun thing to do, but I am sure they knew what they where getting into.
  10. there's gotta be a lot of beer in there
  11. Re: 2nd hand crankshaft for a TW 30? Ha-ha what you want is for a Timber Wolf chipper, not a TW-30 the big ole ford tractors.
  12. As a seasoned tree-man I cannot see the reasoning behind Ed's choice of wet chip unless he wishes to bring home a few sackfuls of residues each night. Nobody here comes home and slings wet wood on their fire. ( maybe they do). I would think that he, like most of us would rather have a less demanding machine that can be fed the premium fuel rather than a premium machine that must be fed a premuim fuel. a costing that may be of interest follows. http://www.actionrenewables.org/uploads_documents/LgeDomesticWoodBoiler.pdf
  13. That thing is ancient, the later ones where yellow with twin cyl petters and I know as my first job in the woods at 16 was feeding one. Crippled me for life!
  14. I've had county ford pto parts from here they have lots of ford bits. good service and quick. http://www.robertwraightltd.com/
  15. chipping for wood smokeries gets my vote for the best use. http://www.foodsmoker.co.uk/consumables/index.htm#Wood_Chips
  16. as we all know graduates are two a penny, but degrees are still a benchmark of learning. Newton Rigg / Lancaster Uni. do a Forestry degree that is distance learning with some block class time. It was aimed at those with OND/HND wod wanted to upgrade. I know one guy who did it.
  17. I used to spray paint my saws in recognisable colours, light blue or lime green. seemed a shame to spoil a brand new saw but none got stolen. when I stopped painting them more dissapeared
  18. I'm sure the owners of a popular New Forest Pub where not pleased when thieves cleaned out the larder and freezers. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/4002126.Christmas_dinner_goes_ahead_after_thieves_stole_turkeys/
  19. Let me have your number ( phone not service) I'm in Verwood and could help with the work experience thing.

    Happy new year ,

    Oliver.

  20. This was my pride and joy for years, now sold ( its gone to the Dunsfold LR folk )
  21. Anyone mention that the branches are wery heavy, no need for step cuts and chuck as they snap off with the slightest of cuts. The spines and sap ate a real pain. I loaded the brush into the truck with the crane trailer and chomped it down rather than try chipping it. the spines point to the tips of the branches and when you drag them or push into a chipper they are digging in.
  22. perfect for snagging on every last twig!
  23. sure did Steve , but every thing is always for sale if the price is right.
  24. ask at a college that runs arb courses they know where to find grants and the like for students .
