  1. Sure is. Comes out when the sun shines. Its a 5 ton renault ( no stabiliser legs, just sheer weight holds it down)
  2. that was a well worn blade. note the score line for wear limit. I throw mine away well before they are that bad. could it be that older blades at the end of their working lives are most likely to fail.
  3. Fridays fun. Bit o trimmin of leylandii. 3 days so far and at least one more yet. Four fishin chalets to tidy round. not a ladder job. farmer will burn the 20+ tranny loads himself.
  4. My only major blade failiure on was on genunine TW blades , I switched to saturn and have not had a problem since. If no genuine blades failed then I could accept the point, but they do.
  5. I must add that I prefer not to drop any equipment. Including 200T's from trees LW! ( you know who you are )
  6. Hammering metal is a clever way of changing its crystaline properties. Pro tip. Broken starter spring , no spare. take appart remove spring. take the broken end ( usually outer coil where it loops onto the casing) hammer it sharply several times using the truck tow ball as an anvil. Gently bend the end round with pliers to make a new loop. Beginners may take several attempts to achieve good results. replace spring , finish job , buy new spring on way home. Why does this work.? hammering the spring steel changes the crystalline structure of the steel, the hammered bit just forgets its not a spring and will bend to a new position.
  7. Sir, possibly the different language used in yorksire may be the problem. learning proper English may help. My screen is perfect and I'm a southerner. you cant read this anyway cos your page is a load of ?%^%&£fqwb63y0 214bv7>[p0.0 or similar un recognisable sybols.
  8. I reckon on few of the 100 lasting 5 years so at 20 per year all 100 would be gone after 5 years. 1st year 20% failiure rate from total population. 2nd year 25% (80 remain so 20 from 80=25%) 3rd year 33% 4th year 50% 5th year 100% as time increases so does the probability that a greater proportion will fail.
  9. your not much of an arbo if you never heard of klaus. ( he just wrote lots of books on technical tree stuff )
  10. get some on thievebay from the touts. also , is it me.....
  11. It looks real good but I think it may be unstable with a narrow base. Will it be fixed to the floor?
  12. Reintroduce? they are already out there. http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-News/Beaver-On-The-Loose-From-Upcott-Grange-Farm-In-Lifton-Devon-Fells-Trees-Near-River-Tamar-Gunnislake/Article/200812415195784
  13. I got a yellow bag for free!
  14. Is Hatfield forest different to hatfield estate? I know Lord Salisburys other country pad at Cranborne well.
  15. I know its been 16 deg here ( bournemouth area) but dusting off the beach rolly is a little premature dont you think?
  16. the back end is the same as the 30dh so bearings no worries. I use a command 25hp petrol. Buy one using the serial numbers from the engine and the shaft is the same size. only the bolt holes need enlarging on the base and the fuel pump is moved from one side to the other. I just binned the fibreglass cowling and made up guarding instead. The key start, choke, throttle are all on the engine anyway so they where never changed back.
  17. Dammit I've been busted. ( well it was 1993 when I borrowed a ladder and rake and went out with a 70 quid chainsaw. )
  18. That must be one of the smallest gardens up Hightown Hill. Did "uncle Eddie" drive by to have a nose about? or do you think he was too busy opening up the second bottle of ginger wine of the day.
  19. Pine near Lymington. Very poor condition. TPO so it stays for a bit. Some of the bits taken off and the remaining tree.
  20. Here are a few DF that I cut with an old pal. ( his valmet) all well exceeded 100ft ( some had sawlog timber over 30 cm at 80 ft. ) Most where cut to 32ft sawlogs.
  21. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=what+is+a+mcsheffry%3F&l=1 hmmmm?
  22. Attack it with an angle grinder using thin cutting discs.
