  1. Hi Billy The show was at Kingswood training on Back street in Shipbourne. Did you help build the wooden long house at Porc ? Les
  2. Just to say thanks for all who came and said hello at the Oregon stand at Jonesies show, it was good to put faces to names from Arbtalk and from the industry. I think all who attended were impressed with the show, no small feat and as far as dealer shows are concerned the last one i attended like this was back in the 80's. My personal thanks to Justin and his team and Richard for their help during the show, i sincerely hope this rolls into an annual event as the South East Arb meet. Our excursion to Porc i hope will be repeated with many more Arbtalkers next year to see the development of the Wooden long house. Pics will be uploaded on Sunday

  10. Hi try these Quad-X ATV Spraying Equipment they make sound trailers and might be interested in building a Log winch kit version. They are ATV specialist accessory manufacturers, based in Ahogill in Northern Ireland.
  11. How much for the peerless ? I have had many guitars, played in bands since i was 14, was semi pro for 15 years, well known on the UK rockin scene as the Rockets, played rockin/jump blues/rockabilly/R n R. Was lead vocals, rythym guitar and harmonica we shelved the band in 2000 after 6-7 yrs. Played most major bike festivals, Bulldog, Kent, Ace cafe, Bath & West in 1996 we did 76 gigs. My favourite guitar is my Telecaster, favourite amps fender twin/musicman twin. I know many in our trade are/have a musical inclination, Jonesie is one of them.
  12. Hi Have a look at the local HFT and target clubs and go and try an Air Arms S410 with 10 shot magazine, about £550 new plus a good scope £80-150 and a bottle £140 [7lt 300bar] then spare mag £25.00 sling £20.00 10 tins of pellets £60.00, sling pegs £4.00 and if you want one a bipod [harris £75.00]. About a grand all in and will also hit smarties at 50yds. They say buy a scope and with the change get the gun. Have a look at guntrader.co.uk and filter out the best names like Theoben, Air Arms, Daystate and Weihrauch Also see Shop for Airguns, pellets, Camo clothing, Replicas, Archery in Hereford they have most agencies.
  13. Take a look at these, does anyone know where the largest [girth not height] tree in the UK is ? I know of a tree in Penshurst that might be in the top 10. see TIMBER LOGGING OF THE OLD WORLD
  14. Hi Dave all 262.268.272 huskys use a BPMR7A plug Give it a birthday with a new fuel pick up filter and see how she runs. Bargain !
  15. Dave if your working in brush with solid objects try Flexiblade and Techniblade used in a jet fit head. No kick back when you hit the post or rock. If it's brush and weeds only try a terminator blade by Oregon which is a heavier version of the shredder type blade available in 20mm and 25.4 arbors and in 3mm and 4mm thick steel versions. 16. Yes mate, even on your own private land. see THE BRITISH BOWHUNTERS ASSOCIATION - Home
  17. Down in Sunny kent, you know the riviera [it's nearly 14 degrees ]with palm trees.
  18. Mick i agree with you that unless it's for the pot or for a good reason leave it living. We have enough big cat sightings in kent Bluebell hill, Bredhurst, Boxley Burham and many more. see the kent messenger big cat diaries
  19. We [me & my youngest son] hunt and target shoot with Air Arms S200 and a HW100 PCP air rifles, in the pot this year has gone Pheasant, rabbit and Pigeon . We also have both compound and long bow but you are limited where you can use them although it's a great discipline to hunt a rabbit with a bow. Try http://www.guntrader.co.uk you can see all types of guns and if the one you want is miles away just ask your local RFD dealer to accept it by post and sign it over to you face to face, you can then buy some pellets from them etc. This year there are more Corvids than ever ! they need reducing for all the right reasons.
  20. Just reading this thread shows the differences of opinion and experiences that Arborists and Forestors hold over saw sharpening. For what it's worth here's my suggestions Normal sharpening always with a file [change your file with your chain] Heavy damage use a grinder either 240v back at yard or 12v on site/back of the truck Carry spare chains and use them instead of sharpening on site with long bars. Time is money right. Try Multicut triple chromed chain from Oregon, it will last 4-5 times longer than normal chain before sharpening and can be sharpened with a normal file, these are great for stumps, skidder extracted wood, sleepers, burnt wood and your favourite the fence staple buried in the wood. All Oregon dealers can get this just put an M before your normal chain i.e 22LP becomes M22LP [available only in chisel in most chains including M91VX for your climbing saws] At the APF in Dumfries and at Ragley we demonstrated Multicut v normal chain on old dirty sleepers results 5-6 cuts normal before dulling off with normal chain 20-22 cuts before dulling with Multicut, 3 rubs of a file around both chains then repeated all day long. Several mentioned bouncing the grinder, this is by far the best way to effect a sharpen without blueing and overheating the cutter and when needed a grinder will save you time and money, i would suggest a full 240v bench grinder as long term it will keep you using chains that you might throw away, as i said a good file is always best and i'm pleased to read that some of you take care with profiling the rakers. 21. Are you after a tractor/plant machine mounted or a simple hand held b/cutter version ?
  22. Hi Tom i will call my mate and ask him to send me some pics of the Mog/tree spade then i'll post them on here, if i hear any news like it might be for sale i will pm you with his contact details. He is a dealer in the chainsaw business with their own tree teams as well. Les
  23. You are right i should have wrote Power mac 6 which was the lightest saw after the mini mac which was the smallest, the PM6A came along afterwards and was short lived. I worked for McCulloch for 12 yrs and although these saws were before my time they were talked about a lot and still in circulation when i started in the chainsaw business with Solo in 1980, i also worked for Dolmar so have seen a lot of changes.Still in the industry today with Oregon. A good site is http://vintagechainsawcollection.blogspot.com/2007/03/mcculloch-power-mac-6lightest-saw-in.html
  24. Andy My mate has a secondhand Mog with a tree spade on it that would be great for that kind of job, a lot easier.
  25. I work for Oregon and we publish calenders with old pictures of logging scenes which are sought after. I naturally have quite a few and can access the library. This year Several of my dealers used these with their company name printed on them. Some of the early photo's show just how tough it was with no mechanical aids at all.
