Most chip stays onsite, as do 90% or logs. I live in Norway so most people have a wood burner installed. I charge to chip it and charge additionally if I need to take it away. A mixture of places for mulch or to be spread on paths etc.

What makes you think it might be a Jeckle? Have you seen or used a 500i before?

I have never worked for GC. I don’t think I have seen anything positive about them either. That and the fact I don’t do utilities work is probably the reason for point 1.

I once mentioned my day rate in the pub one night to a (so called friend) another freelancer. He said be careful asking for that much as some one might go in asking 10 quid cheaper. A couple of weeks later some of the firms I had a good relationship with mentioned this guy and that he was cheaper than me. They stuck with me as the other bloke was a wreck head!

You say there isn’t many registered on the freelance database in your area? there you go. An opportunity to clean up. Sell yourself. Make yourself as marketable as possible. Be punctual and do what you say you can do. what kit have you got? As someone else mentioned. I had rigging kit and made it very clear if it came out the bag it was an extra 20 quid in the rate. That stuff didn’t pay for itself so. In time you will know who recognasies the value you add to their team. When you get a few people / companies like this go out of the way to help them and the hopefully it will be reciprocated. good luck.

We used to do that whenever we were rigging a tree and having a tea break. One guy, fell back so hard he lost his helmet smashed his head in the floor and was out of it for a few minutes. The guy who had suggested he do it felt pretty guilty 😁

Gareth, I was just yanking your chain. I have barely used a 260(1) in the last 20 years. We used them at college and a few companies I have worked for/with have them for light duties. I really like the 360…. Class of saws for that type of work; that’s changed now though with the 400.

Wankers! I saw the post on Facebook. Sorry to hear. People knock Forst but I use one at other company I regularly climb for and I own a diesel St8 myself. Not had a problem with either. Apart from a couple of small issues that I have experienced with other manufacturers. Good luck.

400 is a great saw. Not used one with a 20” bar, usually 18”. I have a 20 on my 441. 261 heavy Gareth? I presume you don’t do this full time with a comment like that.

I had a Toblerone last week. The missus flew back from Deutschland and grabbed one at the airport. It was lovely.

Late to the party I know. 1. The tree was cut down correctly but I would say by people who didn’t appreciate that the tree would sucker. 2. Simply cutting around the cambium and using glysophate, rock salt or something else would help to kill off the tree. 3. Cutting down/poisoning the stump is no guarantee that the tree won’t sucker from the root system. 4. The tree surgeon should have informed the client of this. 5. It isn’t your tree, never has been as you are a tenant. 6. What you mother has or hasn’t done has nothing to do with the situation you are finding yourselves in. 7. That picture showing the re growth in the neighbours garden - well that may have been a sucker but it has had some time to develop. 8. The estate agents are clueless. 9. The trees guys who removed the tree are full of shit to suggest that your mother had been watering it. 10. The most worrying point to me in this whole thread is the number of people who think and have written that a Cherry tree won’t come back from being felled or won’t sucker from the root system. Really??? There is some sensible advice in this thread but you will have to search for it.

Just buy Swazi. I bought a jacket from Swazi NZ a few years ago. Once I put in a delivery address from the UK. The price halved as they didn’t charge NZ sales tax. Adding the shipping and import costs for the UK it still came in under 200 quid.
