  1. Any radio 4 listeners will be sorry to hear of the sad death today of Steve Hewlett, presenter of the Media Show. He was only 58. He was diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus last year. He has given many interview Eddie Mair on PM while he was undergoing treatment. I found his attitude and out look very inspirational and his honesty very moving. I'm sure the interview will be available on Iplayer for anyone interested.
  2. Chortle
  3. Sounds like a case of too many chiefs.
  4. Ouch!!!, but at least gear does not ring in sick or expect a pension And you can always sell it on
  5. Hehe, you clearly went to the same business school as me
  6. You may be able to get ongoing consent to maintain the pollard without need to give notice in the further.
  7. You started the "stomping" with the "you're doing something wrong" coment
  8. Due to a very busy start to the year I'm after a free lance/self-employed climber for the odd day, possibly week, on an ongoing basic. There could also be some ground work as well if you are happy to do both. We are based in the North west. Please text your details if you're interested 07957 376685. Cheers, Dave.
  9. Please read my signature I ran my business through a seconded joint bank account for about 15 years, with no issue.
  10. They had no issue with it.
  11. Get caught?? I never advocated deceiving anyone, my bank were always fully aware, come on cheques in the business name are a bit of a give-away.
  12. Really sorry to read this. Is there any chance that if they decide not to repair they would pay you out and then sell you the salvage? I did this with a chipper once, worked out pretty well in my favour in the end.
  13. Why? I passed the VAT threshold while still running my business from a second personal account. I only opened a business account when I started my limited Co.
  14. This is the voice of someone who will never be wealthy, its not about what you can afford, its about avoiding needless expense.
  15. The idea that right and wrong can be taught is utter cobblers, IMO, sure as a child this guidance is help full, but its not long term. We learn from experience, we know how it feels to be treated badly and if we are any kind of decent person we endeavour to treat others as we would wish to be treated. Not to avoid punishment or achieve some reward. As others have said, most of us know people from good homes who turned out bad and vies versa.
  16. The invention of god is one of the highlights of mans nastiness, IMO. The idea that an all powerful creator would make a wasp thats whole life cycle relies on the use of a child's eyes, leaving it blind, yeah right The fact that the evils of nature are simply happenstance are it redeeming feature, IMO.
  17. Yes it is. You cannot transfer a plate from ANY vehicle without MOT.
  18. I don't understand why you would even want to run a business through two accounts? When I had two personal accounts I payed all my business income into one account and made all business payments from that account. I transferred my "drawings" into the other account and ran my personal finances from this account. So one account for business and one for personal.
  19. Running a business through two bank accounts sounds pretty dodgy
  20. I ran my business from a personal account for years, I only opened a business account when I went Ltd.
  21. Same here, but new customers are now charged:thumbdown:
  22. Just open a second personal account.
