  1. :confused1:So now you think his work is quality??????????
  2. No such thing!!!!!!! I think you mean a certificate of competence in the tasks you intend to perform. If I were you I would get some experience with a few firms first.
  3. :confused1:But surely thats the only way any one (other than a cowboy) would do a job like that??? I price my work at the weekend and evenings and then program it in accordingly. The only time I go to do a job to price it and do it there and then with staff and gear is emergency call out. I would just pick that tree up on the way home from another in the area, 10 minuets work £60 happy days:001_smile: He did not offer to come back at another time and do it a reasonable rate, but they he was a lying cheating scumbag so why would he. I am more than a little shocked that some seem to think his tactics are acceptable.
  4. Good!!!!!!! I hope they do!!!!!!! I've more work than I need and make a very good profit
  5. Was there any real need to remove the limbs on the house side?
  6. So you think to tell an elderly lady that her tree "is dangerous", "has Honey fungus", "is definitely going to go over" and that he's "100% right", when in fact the tree in good health................ is "clever Unreal!!!!!!!
  7. Are you having a laugh???????????????? If you have found a way of making stumps rot away in a few months you need to contact the scientific community!!!!!!!!!!! You will be a millionaire!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. So you two think £20+ per minuet on site is "about right":confused1: The "expert" reckond his price was 3x more than it should have been so £60 for that tiny tree, which IMO is about right.
  9. Winning work is easy. Winning work at a price that make you a decent profit is the tricky bit. We read on here all the time about experienced guys who cock up when quoting, its not easy.
  10. But at least with a Premier (schiesling) the blade will not come through the housing, so it no where near as dangerous. IMO all chipper housings should be strong enough to stop a failed blade.
  11. I thought I had missed the boat being 40!, but no there is still hope
  12. I've been using mine for years, about 10 I think. Its great, I just buy the same cord as it originally came with and tie my own. Much easier to use one handed than a hitch IMO.
  13. Is there an age limit??
  14. Go on John put your name down, if you do I will!!
  15. "Cast not a clowt till may is out" Some say "clowt" means clothing and that you should keep your warm clothes on. Others say it means clod of earth or sod and that it means you should not start digging over the garden.
  16. I heard (on radio 4 I think it was) that if you would be indecent without the item of protective clothing you have to pay VAT. I guess they would have to be wearing some trousers of some sort, so the fact that they are protective and expensive is just tough.
  17. If my family and I are still happy and healthy, I'll have all I need.
  18. I used to ride fixed:thumbup: Once had a copper try and tell me I should have had a rear brake:001_rolleyes: Nice John, very nice!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. More like very stupid how on earth was doing all that going to help get him his money:confused1:
  20. I think it help people to take you seriously and gives them some confidence. (possibly unfounded:001_huh:)
