  1. Daft as it sounds, they actually try to disguise the poles and lines behind trees, to lessen the visual impact on the landscape.
  2. IME, most trees put the foliage back on in no time, its just that its all bushy and in a more confined space.
  3. True, but a lot of that is about optimising the available light. When the wind blows the whole weight of of the crown is levering in the direction of the wind anyway, so in reality any weight removed lessens the load.
  4. I would try and make them see sense, but if they insist I'd do it. I don't buy this unbalanced stuff, when I did line clearance I cut the side off some huge trees with no problems, I also worked on huge trees that had had one side taken off years ago and where doing just fine.
  5. Sorry to hear this, hope you can find a way to sort it or live with in a way thats not too debilitating. Have they told you the sort of things that have caused this??
  6. One of those was the first thing I drove after I pasted my test, it was my dads. I also had one when I first got into tree work. They will carry a 1ton, which is the same as many transits.
  7. In fairness, being road side, they may well have done that too stop the toppers being nicked.
  8. So your off too the loo, then back too bed.
  9. Only just found this. Many happy returns Mate!!!!!!!!!! Whats that then 25???????26??????????
  10. Looks good to me!! How can the the TO justify the expense of his messing about??
  11. Was the club shut?????
  12. Gay porn??????? LOL!!! Dean snap!!!!!!!
  13. Spelbound are ace!!!!
  14. Rubbish!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its no different to any of us giving free advice about trees or any part of our business on here. We are all free to do it or not

    Odd tree

That is so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It would be great in my garden!!! I reckon my hiab would lift that!! Where exactly did you say it was??
  16. Its a shame that with such good stone they have made such a poor job of it.
  17. Nice one Tony!! really glad things are now heading in the direction you want!!! I know we don't always see eye to eye, but I wish you all the very best for the future!!!!!!
  18. Pleased to say I have none.
  19. All banks are like some one who lends you an umbrella when the sun is shining and asks for it back at the first sign of rain!!!
  20. Tree work vids used to be someone simply capturing their every day work on film. We have now moved to a situation where some seem to be trying to shoot the best (or worst, as some see it) vid and the actual work has just become a means of achieving this.
  21. Indeed, I'm not as impressed now.
  22. No, the bottom cut is the only back cut (I think) in effect there is no hinge.
  23. Interesting, I'm guessing it was cut that way to be sure there would be no chance of the hinge holding?? With many of the trees, I wonder why they where not just felled at ground level??
