  1. :ohmy:Steady on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm only 40!!! It'll be a good 30 years before I'll even start thinking of handing over my empire!!!!!!!!!!
  2. I also heard of a woman in a Landcruser, who was trying (badly) to reverse into a parking space. An small sports car shot into the gap, the driver gave her a big smile and said "thas what you can do when you can drive!!" The woman promptly reversed hard into the sports car, making it underivable, she then handed him a card with all her contact details on it, and said "and thats what you can do when you are rich!!"
  3. I knew a guy who had an old long wheel base landy station wagon. He was parked on Asda car park waiting for his wife. A car pulled in next to him, the cars front bumper caught the side of the landy putting a long narrow ding right down the side. The guy got out the landy and asked for the other blokes details for his insurer. The guy in the car just shrugged his shoulders and said "its private land mate, nothing you can do" "really" said the landy driver. He got back in his landy, backed up, rammed the side of the car (righting it off) and then drove to the other end of the car park to wait for his wife.
  4. Interesting stuff Matty! Sorry things went bad. Maybe me and my boy will work well together, but I'm not going to expect that to work and will give him the option to run his own gang, if we do work well together that will be a bonus
  5. Wow thats getting closer to me!!! On Home planet on Radio 4 last week they mentioned the study, but surgested that the midlands was as far north as it had got!! If yours the most northern yet recorded???
  6. The double bollard one has some lifting ability, by means of lever. If you do a search in the video forum you will find some greats vids from RCO (Reg Coats) showing the full range if what the devises are capable of
  7. I've pickup from various posts by different members that their fathers are in the trade, some running their own firms. Yet they do not work with or for their fathers. I am interested in the reasons for this? And would also be interested in the experiences, good and bad, of any who do work within a family firm. I am very well aware of the difficulty's of working with family, I worked with my farther in retail and repair for 6 years. My eldest son is 14 and wants to get into Arb, my plan is for him to get trained up, then fun his own team under the umbrella of my existing business.
  8. I hear what you are saying But why are forestry cuts, which are all about conserving timber, taught and used for Arb, which is all about getting the tree down in the safest and most cost effective manner. I an still waiting for someone to tell me why small gobs are better, for any other reason than saving timber???
  9. Whats this site called???
  10. They will stand for years, wait till all the bark has fallen off, then the timber will be nice and dry.

  18. I never clear other peoples mess! Looks like a nightmare. On jobs like that I fell then chip up, fell then chip up.
  19. I hear what your saying Stevie, BUT and its a big but, Daniel puts his videos forward as training vids. Now you, I and many others on here will use unorthodox methods a lot, but we have the experience to know when and where these "not by the book" techniques are OK. If some one with limited experience uses one of Daniels videos to learn a technique that should only be used by the experienced, it could be disastrous. Only proven and tested safe methods should be pushed forward in videos. Your driving instructor does not teach you to cross your hands when driving or to heal and toe the brake and clutch, these are things you teach your self through years of experience.
  20. Did they just fire you into the tree with the Big Shot ??
  21. I thought that when you said your waist was 42"!!!!!!!! Max weight for a climber is 14st any heavier is not fair to the tree!!!
  22. I bet he uses his little withered hand when he pays you!!
