  1. I agree, but its difficult to prepare in the current climate, there is no slack to be using for preparation for any future down turn. I'm fortunate to have no business debt and minimal personal debt that will be payed off this year, but as for having cash to prepare for the future its just not there
  2. We have been in this slump for some time now, we keep talking about things improving and looking forward to the "good times" again. But what if this is just how things are going to continue for the foreseeable future, Japan has had not real growth since their bubble burst in 1991, so they have been in what we call "recession" for 20 years. What if the current situation just continues, can you keep going as thing are?? Would you want to?? Are there other better, less saturated industries to get into if things are going to continue as they are??
  3. How do you know this???? Were their caravans on the lawn???
  4. True but my hourly rate for tree work is so much better than for logs and I only have a fixed number of hours I wish to sell, so I prefer to sell them for a higher rate. As for dealing with customers, with tree work I find out what they want and deliver their requirements, they are always happy, its not that easy with logs, they ask for "a load":confused1: how much wood is "a load", they think my "load" is expensive, the other guys "load" is cheaper, but how do they know who's "load" contains more logs???. If you move to bulk bags its not much better, there are many different sizes, but the customers don't seem to see this I sell by the arctic load, its simple and those buying seem to understand what their getting
  5. Just got it from the right Dealer, who set it up correctly
  6. But how many have you listened to??, you've not heard mine
  7. Whats max RPM of the 200?? Whats max RPM of the 201??
  8. And if they can make a big enough saving they will accept a less proficient and less professional service, plus lets be honest a great many punters don't know the difference between a good firm and a bad one.
  9. If your doing two properties Dean you can charge the other house for their heating, this then makes your boiler commercial and you qualify for the government scheme that pays you for every KW of heat you produce, even the heat you use yourself, that would soon pay for it.

    arb vehicle?

Are you sure??? My understanding was that as soon as you tow more than 750KG with a 3.5KG truck you need OL and tacho.

    arb vehicle?

Yes I ment OL not OP, can you pull a 3.5 tonne trailer with a landy without OL???

    arb vehicle?

Landy and trailer?? "multipurpose" vehicle exemption or something I seem to recall reading??

    Carrying more weight.

But I think you need a OP to pull the 3.5 trailer with canter, I could be wrong.
  15. Lets give our own information if we wish, but this is no place to be slagging off the competition.
  16. Mines been great from the word go!!! The new chain is more aggressive, so you need to take care when cutting bigger timber or it will bog down and the clutch will slip, but I was using the new chain for a fair while before the 201 came out. I much prefer the new saw, better balance, better handle, stronger brake handle, rounder backend, better filter cover, better off switch, better AV, better fuel economy and better plastics over the exhaust.
  17. That can't last surely, as soon as his chipper need some major repair work, or his motor breaks down he won't have any money to fix them.
  18. Is some of the Ash and Sycamore going for firewood?? if it is I would just mix the HC in with it.
  19. That sounds horrendous!!! and very scary, have you been given an eppy (sp) pen or any other form of emergency treatment for any future attack?? For me its not the cost of a mask thats the problem, its trying work wearing one thats the problem. I wear a paper face mask occasionally, when working on Planes in leaf, those days working wearing a mask are awful and I would not want to try and work like that every day.
