  15. Lignin and cellulose are digested leaving the middle lamella which leads to a brittle fracture! This decay is found in the secondary root system and base of the stem so should be taken very seriously, if you hit the stem with a rubber mallet does it sound hollow? Depending on targets etc the tree will probably need to come down. I hope the info I have given here is correct and if some of it is wrong please correct as im just starting my journey of decay and dysfunction.

  19. Not sure, neither me or marc who was working with me on this job could decide what the stump was. It was tucked right behind a very established conifer hedge so i think the tree must been taken down a good while ago.
  20. Found these Ganoderma saprophytic on a stump behind a hedge.
  21. You can see from this pic where I wanted to reduce back too but no explaining could persuade, so i had to take it back a little further!
  22. Thought its about time that I put a pic of some of my work up and await the abuse. These are from last summer, a reduction on a oak. Its a bit harder than what i wanted to do but the customer wanted the tree in half so this was the compromise! There was a lot of epicormic growth through out the crown which they wanted removing. Ill take a pic of the tree in a couple of months to see how its reacted!
  23. Do you have another truck to chip in to?
