  5. Had a TW350 a Vermeer 9" (new model) and a Jensen 340 on demo earlier this year. Bought the 340 as its an awesome 9" machine. Vermeer is very good but like the TW is over 2 tonne which I found to be a big disadvantage. The TW was too bulky in my opinion.
  6. Within the last year, bibles for me and all the team a duck house, garden roller. Often get cash n beers.
  7. Yep, I use mine with the rope wrench.

  9. Glad the phones ringing for you mate, wish mine was ringing a bit more. It's definatly hot though must have been in the mid 20's today.
  10. Cool pictures! Impressive lifting
  11. I'm using PI with my spider. I personally prefer it over Tacyon and surprisingly find the clutches last longer. I find the rope is easier on the hand. Hope that makes sense ! Cheers
  12. Yep that's the one thanks Ian. The thing i really like about the set up i have is the speed that you can swap back to Ddrt, just undue the lower shackle ( from an old Treeflex bridge)and remove the RW pin and your done. I will very often swap back to Ddrt when crown reducing trees, i find i miss the fine control that Ddrt allows.
  13. Hi, I am using a sj rw combo. I've found it works real smooth. I've let a couple of experienced climbers try my set up including Johnp (on here) and it worked for them with no alterations. My set up is on the Rope wrench feedback discussion but I'm not sure what page.
  14. Just read this post, what utter scum. If theres anything i can do to help out let me know. im in Taunton myself. Colin
  15. Hopefully ive managed to post a photo of my Spiderjack/ropewrench set up. After a bit of trial and error i have found that this set up works for me. i have not had any issues with the RW interfering with the SJ and its easy to switch back to Ddrt. Very useful bit of kit thanks to Kevin
  16. Ive just taken delivery of a pin from Honey bros and by the way i'm using the sj and RW combination. I am finding it works really well for me. I'm using poison ivy and Tacyon. Ill try and get some pics up tomorrow.
  17. From what i could see i would not have any worries about rigging this poplar there appeared to be significant woundwood formation either side of the stem cavity and as long as there was no significant root decay i would rig, but as always keep the dynamic loading to a minimum ie 'let it run'. Personally i love Poplars, they grow fast and big , often in the wrong place and i really enjoy dismantling them.
  18. I found that after a couple of weeks using the sj that it all just seemed to work. I initially tried to use it with a extentable rope beolw it so as to beable to pull the rope from behind the sj but didn't get on with this set up. I now use the sj close in to my bridge and i think its best to persevere with this method.

    BT lines

Thanks for replies, ive dropped and reconnected lines myself before but this is a little more complicated as the line runs to a separate property and the job is for a local authority. Ill need to go through BT but its going to be painful, what makes it so much more complicated is that the short notice job is to be done in conjunction with a HV line drop! Tom i had thought of Rob as a way of finding a name of some one to contact directly locally but i guess ill try to contact him in the new year if i need to. Thanks again all.

    BT lines

Hi all, hope youve all had a merry christmas. i'm after a little advice as to the most direct way to get hold of the right person to get bt cables dropped. I have a couple of jobs now that require lines dropped and one has come in with very little notice. Ive worked around them many times in the past but this is not an option here and the work is in Somerset. Any info or contacts for this area much appreciated.
  21. Hi all , im looking for a climber and groundsman for work in the Taunton area,a full time posistion is available but am also interested to see if there are any freelance climbers/ groundworkers and tree surveyors near by. Regular work available at the beggining of January and onwards. PM me if interested, thanks and Merry Christmas.
  22. Very skilled workmanship, i've enjoyed seeing all of your reductions. Quality work like that is the mark of a true professional but sadly lacking more often than not.
