  1. Hennessy- the new ones come with a top opening- I've got the old Hennessy and its the best sleep near the ground possible. I haven't sleep at height in mine but other friends have. Super lightweight and super awesome Tree boat- really good for sleeping at height but not as comfy as Hennessy, I had a week in mine and my back def felt it. A bit bulky to carry ESP with the rain awning. Portaledge- the ultimate for sleeping at height. Bulky as **** too carry but can fit 2 people do load can be shared. Super stable and secure, really easy to make coffee n breakfast without leaving the ledge. Personally I would forget the tree boat- and have a Hennessy for nr ground missions in the bush and have a portaledge for big missions in the canopy. The tensile will we using inafrica is a whole Different matter completely Hope that helps
  2. chucking a ring into the hitch makes the o rig better in my experience but everyone is different
  3. yep.though the PTA is still spreading there....
  4. everytime im in the waitaks bro, everyone is boot cleaning before heading on the tracks. its normally that the spray stations are empty.....
  5. this is where i stayed for a couple of days. zipline down to the kitchen in thmorning which was a converted shipping container. Custom Treehouses
  6. i recently stayed in a big tree house that had eye bolts and also had suspension sections. from purely looking at the limbs, the suspension option seemed to be choking the stems and being worse for the tree than the bolts.
  7. Due to PTA being present in the forest, someone would of definetly shouted you down for leaving the boardwalk! unfortunately the wild pigs dont seem to be listening......
  8. so you didnt spot the throwline already set then....
  9. we use bicycle courier masks on plane trees..
  10. 20cm drop on blaze absolutely shredded the rope and melted it to the core......i dont think toothed cams an arb ropes go well together anymore-esp if your anchor isnt bomb proof
  11. Well said ewan bro. Different trix for different trees
  12. Fair does bro, hope your enjoying the new direction:)
  13. tell us more about the job then bro-work pics, good days bad days, equipment used, etc if you can
  14. Pilot has done quite a few tree removals, it was a 20 sec turnaround not 20mins!! No stein ptt thingy, just eye contact with dogman on ground he just pointed up for a smaller piece and down for a larger piece when you started the cut.
  15. 10mm i find almost too easy-feels like something is wrong but the 8mm can be a bitch sometimes. real surprised your struggling with the 10mm Jamie-thought youd rip that stuff up bro
  16. out nr Howick Ian. and im coming down to do more lights next month near you for the erupt festival, also contracted to the "Living Dead" remake for the next few weeks as on site arborist. variety is the word at the moment:)
  17. Yeah its a pretty cool way to do treework. The chopper can lift 600kg in zero wind but it was quite windy (9 knots) so created more lift and also removed the downdraft. Costs nz$2000 per hour but removing those stems by chogging would of taken days for many guys to do so works out a good price. plus, its a helicopter so it gets cool points. Ill hopefully get some photos and vid off others- the turn around was about 20 secs between pieces so not much time for photos from me
  18. stem pieces weighed between 450kg and 650kg. Heli flew for about 2 hours, ive waited ages to do a chopper removal and its awesome.
  19. 2 pine removal from last week..
  20. When was the last time you weighed a 100kgs:)
  21. Hey Martin, 10mm OP works fine. The tubing is industrial heatshrink that is super tough and ive never had any problems with retrieval.
  22. perhaps this would work-instead of attaching to an access line you girth hitch the fl prussic to the branch, attach climbing line into the carabiner and pull the loose end. This will advance the carabiner closer to the branch.
