  1. a red oak ive walked past a million times but never seen before in auckland city
  2. its that time again. 4 climbers for 5 days. no night time shots yet, hopefully tomorrow
  3. try dropping onto the branch your limbwalking on from the branch above if its possible. or sometimes i just throw the tail of my rope over the branch above and use that as a balance point-though that probably doesnt make sense!!
  4. Stick with it bro, it'll come right. Enjoy the learning curve:)
  5. What about in that rough as guts bar you old dog;)
  6. That 'thing' in masterton wasn't exactly a chick.....
  7. " determined more by how reckless the climbers in question were than anything else" Oh you've started something now Harris, I hope you feel bad when the bones start snapping!!
  8. thin plank across stinging nettles......
  9. im thinking more, shots in town:)
  10. that sounds terrible mate, a horrible position to be in. id go and get the media on board..
  11. i am going to OWN you mr glen!! phht, a mattress indeed
  12. joe-your a d!ck! yeah matt, exactly what i was thinking too bro, at the fancy dress comp. The rack is brilliant for BIG descents but way overboard for normal tree descents i reckon.
  13. i accept your challenge bro
  14. Op 8mm- EN795b, temporary anchor point.
  15. Beautiful bro
  16. Jangle jangle cross load jangle jangle... Funny pic bro:)
  17. No idea now bro, Africa trip has kinda flipped my plans upside down. Virtually everything is rated bro just not many hitch cords, if any for ppe.
  18. The nz national champs, the aerial rescue was pick off rescue and I'm Pretty sure the top 3 places were done by climbers running srt work systems.
  19. Fig 8 below it Peter?
  20. Yep the croll and ascender is def the quickest ascent method but after doing some drop tests I'm now not such a fan for it in tree work . If you know you've got a bomb proof anchor then no problems but on big trees where your not sure due to distance then I er on the side of caution- ESP after having a anchor snaP on me last year. Also, I now like being able to work on the ascent which the wrench allows you to, a no no to work from ascenders in tree work. And no more change overs:)
  21. Hi gibbon, the fork issue is exactly where the pin becomes a godsend, it enables you to remove the wrench and even your whole hitch if it a real tight crotch. Glad we don't have insurance issues like that here in nz:)
  22. Most of your hitch cord will be "not rated for ppe" bro! Nz normally based most of its regs on overseas equivalents due to the small amount of people here. As soon as you get the proto ready bro, we can get some promo vid shot for sure!
  23. To enable us to shoot amazing footage we are being supported by....Actsafe-Ascenders. Awesome.
  24. id say the advantage of the HC pulley is its size, the bearings and the rounded edges around the pulley. All these combine to make the pulley work better than any other when it comes to fairleading the rope into it-this doesnt sound much but its what makes it a very very slick bit of kit. Plus all the other things it does....
  25. probably not the best idea to be doing class 1 splices on a class 2 rope until youve fully got the hang of splicing. Im not saying its not a good splice but just something to think about. Modern HMPE fibres act a lot differently to traditional fibres. maybe use 10mm beeline instead...
