  1. this is what BT quote us on the in-laws farm two years ago! said if we knew the line was getting damaged by our tree then it was our responsibility to deal with it, so its probably just best to let the tree wear through the wire then get them out to repair it, pleading ingnorance about the cause of the fault, unless the tree is going to damage the wires straight away again
  2. mmmm ready to burn this winter, sorry got side tracked, looks ace, nice to see standing dead wood about, did they die after the last pollarding attempt, or have they been reduced for saftey reasons?
  3. I think it might be about to turn to cold december, from the middle of this week until xmas we arent going to get above freezing up here according to the long term forecast, recon we will be getting a dose of snow tomorrow on the higher ground as well. I think people will start shifting some logs next weekend!
  4. dont get to excited, its still a landy so comfort in the loosest sense of the word
  5. that would be soooo cool for burning off the chavs at the traffic lights
  6. you can get a 1:10,000 off MAGIC and do a screen capture and just edit in what you want with paint etc, not very professional looking unless your careful with it, if its for L/A work, ask them for a print out of the mastermap layer, other than that I agree with Arborist Sites comments
  7. look at all that build up from those unseasoned logs! bet that load in the picture on the other thread weighed a couple of tons
  8. have you seen the DVD sold on ebay called "low impact forestry workshop" its about 60mins all about horse logging, how to lay the woods out and various methods of horse extraction, pretty interesting stuff
  9. they are awesome! nothing beats a nice hot brew or meal on a cold day out, seriously you can be the envy of your collegues, mine all bring their own mugs now so i make fresh coffee at brew time
  10. Download Manuals - Husqvarna Forest Equipment Operation Manuals this should open a list of IPL's for the 480cd you will need to open the correct one for the age of your saw
  11. i use a stihl EDT7 tacho as it will do most of my kit including mowers etc, i think it was about £100 maybe a bit more 2yrs ago when i got it
  12. not wanting to shatter your illusion, but thats never going to crane feed into the chipper
  13. Justin, i have a 17" 0.063 .404 stihl rollomatic ES bar on mine, is there a reason why i shouldnt have .404 on this short bar? oh and its on an 8pin rim sprocket as well
  14. fast but it has a muffler mod, not sure i would pick it over a smaller saw with a similar bar, its good fun but not enough faster to merit swapping the bars and lumping the extra weight about eg i would prefer to use my 372 with a 16" bar rather than the 084 on a serious job,
  15. i have a 17" for my 084, great fun
  16. thats worth looking at cheers Andy as the sordins have a considerably lower SNR rating probably due to the electronic acctuation, so it lets peoples voices etc through clearly then electronically blocks the harmful noises
  17. Is anyone using these defenders? thinking about a pair for xmas so i can use them on the ATV when flailing, strimming, on the saw bench etc, also the have a socket to plug my two ways into them, so if needed the farm/wife/colleagues could get hold of me when im working without needing to come close. just after any feedback as they are pretty dear if they are naff Cheers Charlie
  18. this was a pretty sweet set up that the contractors had on one of the wildlife trusts jobs recently, good as it has a good visability into the trailer for when unloading no good if you cant see the bits in the bottom of the trailer also this sat quite a way back on the trailer, so it balanced well not like a straight grain trailer conversion which could put a lot of strain on the drawbar if not thought out properly, or are you thinking 3pl crane and grab with a extended drawbar on the trailer?
  19. http://www.naac.co.uk/Docs/Memorandum_on_red_diesel_use_10.01.08_NAAC.pdf this might answer a few questions, it really depends exactly on what your using the mog for exactly, there are several other thread on here about the subject, which im sure some of the other members will be able to point you in the direction off
  20. im interested in this from another legal point of view, for arguments sake you have a harness that you bought from the states this can be passed as ok for use despite no-CE markings, but if you bought a saw back and were using on a work site, you leave yourself open to prosecution for use of non-CE marked kit, so hows that work then, CE is legal requirement for some work equipement and not others? where is the list of what has to and doesnt have to be CE marked, or is the difference between LOLER and PUWER regs?
  21. I'm wearing my waders next time i come to your yard! cant believe one of the houses up here in my village flooded on Sunday morning! i dont remember the rain being that hard on the way home but then again i had been in the pub for about 10hrs with my mates.
  22. agriaffairs is a right PITA when you are trying to find a machine and you get four pages of google results all on agriaffairs in every concievable language, all for the same machine, not handy i do like agco-trader as its all the agco dealers kit throughout europe, found a couple of machines through that, also unsold lots on cambridge machinery sales website is good, the auction is well worth a visit on sale days, havent been for about 2yrs but going to swap some tractors over winter so may have a pop down one monday
  23. Pieminister highly recommend these guys as well if your near any of their resturants, they do a hot pie with bubble and squeak mash, and gravy for about £3.50 might have to go and find a mince pie now, mmmmmmmm pies
  24. had mine tonight beef and potato, with chips and curry sauce
  25. i would opt for this method, [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15UwvcMt8NM&feature=related]YouTube - Huge 100 ton Explosion[/ame] then just push all the debris back into the hole
