wasnt sure if i should post this here goes. a newly qualified tree surgeon died last week in sheffield. he was 21. it was a neck injury caused by kick back. very tragic indeed. i think he was resuced by the fire brigade and was in intensive care. this information has been given to me by friends so i cant vouch that all the information is correct.

when your starting out word of mouth aint enough. ive got loads of work off leaflets. i leave a landline number and people recognize im no pikey. that said if i was getting loads of calls then i would be working not leafleting.

the way things are going conifer will be going for 100 a load! i sell my unseason logs for £90 a load.

i go out leafleting when ive got no work in. i put my name and a landline number on it. it beats sitting at home. infact i went out today, so i guess im a insured qualified pikey then? if u think its pikey i think u should get off your high horse. when things are slow you have to go out and find the work. im in the local paper every week and get very few calls from it. yellow pages is a joke imo.

yep it depends on knot and type of cord. my point was bigger surface area = more friction.

bigger rope would give u more friction i would think.

i personnally wouldnt put signs up near were i keep my equipment, i think is might draw the wrong type of attention. i would put an ad in a local shop with a phone number.

its not a bad idea to have a short length of rope in your kit bag with a spare prussik for such occasions.

what rating is that sling? if its 22kn would that setup pass a lolar?

it makes me sick also, what goes into landfill sites is waste. woodchip is a by product and has a value. the goverment is using this whole green issue to tax us even more. they only care about taxing and controlling. if they cant tax it then their not interested.

put your prices up imo.

just sell them as split logs and save yourself the bother.

i split all mine with a maul so they are all around 6-8 inchs.
