  1. I'm a bit surprised there isn't an attachment for a chainsaw! Anyone got any plans in a draw somewhere...
  2. Cold showers then
  3. From my instinctive sense for these things, my rapide certainly has a very noticeable lower efficiency. same rope (got splices all round now I'm the man I'm working for ), same friction cord, same biners.......different HC? Does the bearing take a bit of time to set in? Mine just aint as good.
  4. first site i looked at, reckon cold metal's gotta be sharper! Sharpen when hot? (this is again a guess) coldest possible when using, physics my friend Closest Shave Possible With a Cartridge Razor: Hot Lather and Cold Razor for Best Results at Home Economically
  5. Ahh, I have both but didn't know that, usually the rapide stays in my climbing bag, definitely isn't as smooth at tending as the bush one.

  12. yeah, it's mounted just behind the capstan in the pic, I realised it was out of view after replying and got an edit in It is a stroke of genius after working with it, the control the groundsman has is great. I think he said it's been welded, I'll get some finer details next time I see him
  13. He uses it for lowering, lifting and winching. How could it roll huck? if anything were to go wrong he just has to let go of the tail and all is released, there is also a pulley on the other side which allows for the rope to lead forwards!! (it's not his primary lowering device, just there if he needs it!)
  14. And from the side, I think you'll like this one moggers
  15. One of the guys I climb for every now and then has two mogs, one with chipper the other with hi-ab, they rock!! but the one with the hi-ab has this capstan mounted on the pto.....
  16. It was in about a million pieces on your drive when you saw it shep (don't worry swinny, just some maintenance when I first bought it!) Glad she's still running ok, taught me a thing or two about chippers that machine! woodpecker, it's been fixed with a Jenson once already
  17. nice one guys looks the mutts nuts! I liked the video but didn't really mimic a working scenario for my liking. What was setting it up on a stub all about? I would also have cut a face where it should have been, not that this would have made much difference but you never know. I must say however that I don't doubt the strength of this bit of kit for one second, it's definitely on the list

  24. Are you allowed to climb on any system (v.t or similar) in the assessment? We were wondering this at work last week, I think as long as your confident with your system you can...a couple of the older guys reckon you've gotta climb on a prussic or blakes
  25. I just quoted a decent size leylandii takedown, 100m drag behind a terrace........I wan't an arbor-trolley!
